Hi Elizabeth, S has been more relaxed today, we have chilled at home and done joint activities etc I think he will be ok for school tomorrow.

Hi DD, I'm annoyed with him. He shouldn't have applied for the job (and the salary) if he was not up for it. Have sought advice today and asked for a meeting with him.

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

    morning speedy

good that you kept s off school and gave time for medicine to start working. Hope he is much better today and has been able to go to school.

Keeping a record as DD mentioned of who you have talked to over the phone is a good idea. I always forget to write it down.

    take care

    Hi Chris and Julie,

S seemed to benefit from the day off yesterday. He got off fine to school, but is late back this afternoon - hoping he arrives soon and is ok.

    As for my boss

    HI Speedy

I've come to this late I'm afraid, so most have said what I would .... in particular about your &$%! boss!! Unbelievable!

Really hope that S is feeling better soon, and that you both get some decent sleep so that you can better face the day (and the weather) that faces you.

    loads of hugs

Hi Julie, Tilly, Rose, Marion, Toni and Wonky,

Thanks for your continued support ... when you are battling all the time it is great to know their are folks on your side.

S's ear drops seem to be helping.

Work is a nightmare - still waiting for seating which wont arrive in time for this term at all - due to the order being placed so late!! I have requested that I stay on phased return until it does arrive ... my boss wants me to work the three most physically demanding days of course...

We practised our Christmas play this afternoon and the chair I was sat on was clearly not suitable as really suffering hip and back this evening. Heat and meds not helping - shall try a bath before bed.

Our estate is treacherous - daren't set out on foot - but not much better in the car either. My old car managed on snow and ice much better than my newer car. It just doesn't grip and it really skidded on my road tonight, luckily it came to stop at the kerb, just missing a lamp post by inches!! To top it all (why moan by halves?!) The tesco food delivery never arrived and we are running low on essentials .. S doesn't cope well with busy supermarkets and I struggle with pushing the trolleys ...

    Hi Speedy

Yes, you MUST stay on a phased return (or not go in at all) until your equipment arrives. I wonder what the legal implications are to the Head, personally, if something goes wrong with you because of the inadequate equipment??

Hope is your back and hips today?

This is a rough time for you Speedy, but it will get better.. it's not going to be like this for ever.

The side roads are, indeed, very scary at the moment.. I am limiting my walking to just a few yards, very gingerly, using my stick, and keeping close to the walls.

Hope your food delivery arrived eventually..

    Marion xx

Looking forward to your next update.

    Hi speedy

sorry to hear that the equipment will definitely not be in place before the end of term. :( your boss is a twerp.. worse than that.. a negligent and self serving twerp! :x

what have HR said about the failure to provide the equipment speedy..... they should be on top of this and advising about the risks to your recovery and the H&S issues. not to mention employer's liability :?:

I agree wholeheartedly with Marion... your health is more important than any job...they are at fault and are placing you at risk.

take care speedy. thinking of you.

    Jeepers Speedy

No equipment this term, they really have let you down big time on that. Do hope you don't feel bullied into doing more than you can manage. You must be furious with your boss for delaying the order. Hope S a little better now and that you did get your shopping eventually.
Sending a few spoons and warm hugs.
    Hang in there

Evening speedy, I hope you and S have had a good week-end. I also hope that next week goes smoothly - pace yourself as much as you can. Are you feeling generally a little brighter? I hope so. DD

    Hi Marion,

I have decided to stay on three days until my equipment arrives - this is my limit. Ideally I would work Tu, W and Th but of course my boss wants me to work W, Th, F. Still it is the Christmas dinner this Fri and next Fri the children finish early, so that will be good.

I feel the school situation will carry on in similar vein ... though hopefully will become more tolerable when I'm physically struggling less.

Do take care on the ice Marion. Did you see my message to you on DD's thread?

Shopping never came and nor did T*sco ring to let me know about this. Luckily I had the Friday off (as had already worked T, W, Th) so went and got essentials from local supermarket.

Hi Iris, basically ER advised HR that they had no choice for me to stay on phased return due to my equipment not being ordered ... however, haven't spoken to them directly myself. Maybe I should. Have OH review this Wed. Have been advised by union to tell them the full story ...

Hi Toni, I won't be persuaded to do more than the 3 days as I would really struggle. I am frankly really annoyed as if the equipment had been ordered when I was told it had been it would have arrived by now ...

The thaw has begun so that is good, though I think the slush may well freeze at the start of the new week.

Have had a nice weekend thanks, hope you have too.

Hi Chris - I won't do more than three days until my equipment, I keep reminding myself this isn't my fault ... and they are lucky I'm in at all!! S's ears are better now thank you. The shopping did not come, very poor customer service from T*sco - as they didn't even phone to let me know. Luckily as had Friday off (as had worked Tu, W, Th) I went to local supermarket and got essentials. I'd never have managed this physically if I'd had been at school all day.
Thank you for spoons and hugs,

Hope you get some decent help in the shop.

    Hi Julie,
had a nice weekend thanks, kept warm (will just have to squint and not look too carefully at the bill total when it arrives!) and had a few trips out.
    S's ears are better.
Hope you enjoyed your late night shopping trip and are not going too stir crazy being on mainly house arrest. Have you got the camera and editing software sussed yet?
