    Hi Chrissy,
I was born and bred in Wigan. Now I live in Sheffield. So I know both sides of the Pennines. I have had RA since 1992.

I live in the Highlands of Scotland, but I am originally from Lancashire - you know, the county with those horrible neighbours to the east

My best friend up here is from Yorkshire (don't let my fellow Lancastrians know). A few years ago when it was his 60th birthday he had this big party, to which me and my partner Simon were invited. I was the only Lancastrian there, holding my own against all these Yorkshire men and women. At one point during the party my partner (who is a posh southerner) whispered in my ear asking: "Which county is the red rose, and which the white?" I burst out laughing and pointing at him, told everyone what he had said. One of the guests turned to Simon and said: "Yer not from Yorkshire, yer not from Lancashire - it's nowt ter do wi' you."

None of us have ever let Simon forget that!

    Best wishes,
    Kevin.

Scottish Highlands are notorious for midges! The worst months are July and August. Normally spring and early summer are fine, though some parts of the Highlands can get them bad in June.

Did you know that it is only the female of the species that bites?

    Best wishes,
    Kevin.
