Hi Iris, that op sounds worthwhile then. Shame the ulna head wasn't removed when you had the fusion done ... but good that Mr H is now your surgeon.

You sound well prepared for the rheumy appointment .. though not sure if you will make it if the snow is bad.

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

    Hello Iris

So sorry that your appt was cancelled due to the snow - I know you are desperate to find out what your post-Infliximab drug options are. :( I really hope you managed to get your knee jabs sorted in the meantime Iris.

    Thinking of you.

    Hi Iris,

Long time to wait for them knees flower... I doubt you can get it sooner cus its got to be back logged and such cus of the appalling weather you have had to survive.

I so hope things will get better for you soon and leaving a ((((( ))))) and some cdm.... and he is dragging the thaw up if it kills him..... Cris xxx

Hi Marion, Wonky, Speedy, Elaine, Tilly and Cris ..not forgetting poor little frozen sol :o ...Thanks everyone for your posts. :D

Still snow bound and unable to go out, but have plenty chocolate treats and the promise of a share of someone's cdm and a galaxy!

We've had a little respite during the night from the Easterly snow showers... and instead have them coming in from a Westerly direction today. so getting about is still hazardous. f050.gif (same for everyone I guess!)

I have hatched another plan....
I will now write to my Rheummy and give him an update on what's been happening with my joints and also all the questions I have for him about treatment options, my knees being steroided (great word wonky :D ) and future surgery.
I also would like a physio referral to a more local hospital as I know there is a specialist rheummy physio there. (who has provisionally agreed to see me and my knees  but needs the all important referral)

My rheummy is a considerate man and I've known him for 15yrs so I could phone him  but think, as I've so much to say  , that writing would be more effective.

Failing that I will phone the Day Ward and ask for my knees to be steroided.

thanks to all for your support. :D

    Iris xxxx

ps... hope sol is now thawed out! he didn't even have a snow suit on  :?

    Oh Iris
I am sorry you have had to cancel your appointment...but at least we know you are safe and sound in your home.
I bet there have been lots of cancellations, I do hope you can get your knees injected very soon, and hopefully be in less pain.
Please let us know how you get on.
    Keep warm and safe

    Hi Iris

Sorry you are still snowed up!

Just wanted to say that I think your plan to write a letter is a brilliant one :D

I do hope you don't have to wait to long for your knees to be "steroided" though. :(

    Thinking of you.

    H Iris

Yes, good idea to write the letter (he will have plenty of time to read it 'cos no-one will be turning up for the out-patient clinics at the moment!)

I would definitely try for the Rheumy Physio. I have got an appointment with an 'ordinary physio' next Friday and am a bit worried in case they don't understand my rheumatological issues and I end up being worse off after I've seen them..!

    Take care ..

    Hi Iris

I do hope you are feeling ok this morning.

We have had a fresh snowfall - just when i thought we were getting of light(ish!). My Sis is in Cupar and feels pretty isolated out there too. Shall I send her over  This year she is coming to ME for Christmas so I won't be your way. Last year it was very very deap snow - is it worse?

I like the idea of a letter to teh rheumy - good one! I am sure it will help - better than nothing - maybe he will do 'phonetriage' like our locum GP did/does.

    You take care

    Love

As usual you are right: you are sooooo good at plans and strategies! Get those letters written and hopefully someone can post them for you. It's still cold here but the snow is thawing rapidly, which is a good thing. I hope the same thaw is happening where you are, dorcas. Take care and keep warm. DD

    Hi Iris

Just catching up with all this. Goodness Wally is 6 months old that has gone quickly but so glad you have bonded well.
Sorry the rheumy appointment was cancelled but you did right not to risk it in this weather. We have had a partial thaw here and the pavenments are lethal!!
Am sure your letter will explain it all well and you will make sure you say all that you need too so that sounds like a good plan. :D Hope you do get some help for the poorly knees soon though.
    love and warm hugs

Hi Barbara, Tilly, Marion, Berty, Toni, DD, Chris, and the Lady Wishteria

Well... the letter's gone. :D I addressed it to both the rheummy consultants that I most often see.. just in case one's on holiday. Here's hoping for a 'phonetriage call'. (nice one Toni  your sis is getting a lot of snow :!: )

We've not had any more snow since yesterday and even had a bit of a thaw (yipee!). :D
Made a futile attempt at venturing out.. even put a splint on wally just in case, but quickly went back indoors as the paths and roads here are treacherous.

Hope wherever you are that you are safe and warm. :D

    Iris xx

ps... Marion I hope your rheummy appointment next Friday goes well...xx

pps...Cris.. have run out of buttons and Wish has that funny look in her eye.

    Hi Iris

Good Idea to write to your rhummy nurse. It is nice that you can do this. He/she may even ring you to discuss things when he has read it.

I hope you can soon get to the hosp for your steroid inj. Dont suppose anyone could come to you? I know district nurses only do so much but could they inject you. (mine wouldn't , Wouldn't even take a toe nail clipping if you remember)
I know they take bloods and give jabs. Might me worth asking.
    (or am I being daft)

Hope you are relatively ok and keeping warm
Hopefully the snow will soon go

    Take care

    Hi Iris,

Well done for doing that letter flower... I also hope you get the phonetriarge... my docs do that too but the rumo I just get a bit earlier appointment and his secretary phones and tells me to either stop taking some tablets or up the dose etc.

Oh that loo she gets...... she is one determined sheep and she will pester you for anything sweet... the funniest thing was not having bikkies in a mates car but we did have some carrot cake.... none of them were sure they liked t them Wish got the sugar rush and went ballistic trying to get it all... she doesn't do sharing :lol:

Hey if you get too much mugging I will get Stamps to get in her nurses costume and come up instead... now there is a sheep with too much attitude but under her bravado she is some sweet..... her Ladyship has been a spoilt brat all her life, well from 3 weeks old and guess that's my fault    I create monsters now and then... Primmy being exhibit B

You stay safe and I don't know if you can get it but the salt grit they use on roads is also for sale in the local agricultural feed stores.... I can't post it up but you might be able to get some there? i know its not nice to grass and concrete but it will get rid of the slip..... ((((( ))))) and a cuppa to take away the taste f the Iris get better soon draft targeted at knees especially. xxxx

Afternoon dorcas, I hope all is well with you today. Does the thaw continue? We have very little snow left but there are still patches of ice on the paths and pavements, so I am, sensibly, staying indoors. Despite having no chocolate. DD

Hi Julie PF, Cris and Damsel, x:))

Still snowed in here... not been out for 8days and looking to break my previous record.:lol: Temps of -12 so just a bit on the cold side too.

Not heard anything from Rheummy.... but it may well be that the letter hasn't even been delivered given the weather conditions.
I've decided to phone the Day Ward on Friday and ask if I can get my knees 'steroided' as I can hardly hobble and not sleeping again because of 'em. Ain't life with arther just grand. :?:

Hope you are all OK and keeping warm. x:))

    Iris xx

ps... JuliePF... my docs don't 'do' knees or any other joint injections. :(

    Hi Iris,
Oh I do hope you get a good response from the Rheumy ward. I know your knees are giving you so much grief.

We have a better forecast for the next few days so will try and send some warmth your way. Mind you we may get rain and that will be interesting on frozen ground.
For my next trick I will perform the double twist with back flip. :lol:

Fingers crossed for you for Friday.

I hope you can get to the day ward on friday so that you can get your knees done. Hopefully you are also in for a heatwave.

Oh no, oh no, oh no. I can feel the hurt. No, no, NO! Are they really that bad again so quickly? You and I are sisters-in-arthritis, mine used to do exactly the same prior to humira. Sodding joints. My hospital won't repeat draining/steroids within three months, partly becuase of the risk of infection but mostly to do with the steroids. I hope yours has a different policy, 'cos your knees did respond quite well, yes? Oh dorcas, what a palaver. Sodding disease. I hope things are a little better today - are you very bored with being indoors or does the pain/discomfort over-ride that? Thinking of you. DD
