Skin eating fish

No, don't squeal
As one of my son's myriad of Christmas pressies to my DIL he gave her a voucher for a spa treatment by skin eating fish (for the feet)
I'd heard of it and I can't wait to hear how it went. Googling, it's apparently been used in Asia for eons.
My psoriasis is a particular bother on my feet, especially now that I've got my "mummified right foot".
What a dream it will be if I can have a go after the stitches come out next week

Hey Cherry sounds reall great I hope you realise we want a full report when you get back with every little detail. Look out for the piranha. Have seen this on the telly and i know people pay lots of money to go out to Israil to get this treatment several times a year.

Hi Colin
I shall give a complete run down of it! Anything that'll save me hours of scruffing my feet with a "surform" must be good news and I certainly ain't squeemish
Bring on the leeches

Hi Cherrybim
I think this has been a popular christmas present as my daughter also got a voucher for this treatment off one of her friends.. I'll let you know how she gets on..

Hi Marion,
I wonder how many "outlets" there are? Son & DIL live in Brighton but it seems that there are "franchises" all over
Do let us know how your daughter gets on won't you.

Apparently it tickles. I suppose fish nibbling your skin would tickle. I cannot stand the idea myself, I prefer a human armed with a pumice, or sandpaper, or (in extremis) a sand-blaster. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi again
Apparently your feet feel lovely and smooth afterwards.. my daughter is going to a place in the Trafford Centre shopping mall in Manchester - but apparently it is in full view of all passers-by!!!

My friend won a trip for this. She lives in Worthing so probably went to the same one as your DIL. She said it was relaxing.

Hi, There's one just opened in the Metro Center {Gateshead}
Its fascinating to watch....I passed by on my scooter did a quick U turn to see what was happening....all these people sitting on top of what appears to be a tank with bare feet hanging in the water {trousers rolled up to their knees} as if they were at the seaside Apparently it does leave your feet feel very smooth afterwards but I'm not sure that I would pay that amount of money just to feed their fish
They dont bite, just nibble and nibble the skin away. Thats all I know ab out it and yes its Japenese

Hi Elizabeth,
I really can't wait to try it I spend hours every week sorting my feet out and end up totally exhausted in the process.
I've been reading up about the Garra Rufa fish and it all sounds good to me

Good luck Cherry. I get my OH to do my feet. I'd be frightened of falling in the tank!

Hi Cherry, personally I would not be able to bear this treatment - I would be squealing all the while. However, hope you get a go and it works for you.
SpeedyI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
Hi Cherry
Am just back from Tunbridge Wells and they have one of these places there too. Must admit it looked odd to see people sitting in the shop window with their feet in a tank!!
Those fish seemed to be enjoying it, though it would worry me sticking me feet in a communal tank and wondering if I could catch more than a fish!! the poor little things.
Let us know if you give it a go. It does sound fun.

Hi Cherry
I've seen this 'treatment' on the TV but I'm with berty on this one as I don't like anyone..or anything.. touching my feet.
Although... if it can possibly help you and save you from all the time consuming other treatments you've endured...then it has to be worthwhile to have 'a go'.
You must let us all know how you get on Cherry.
good luck!

Wow 10,000 posts, that's what one would call impressive Toni Well done that Lady!
You'll have to put up with me cos "je pete plus haut que mon cul" (I am a bit French, lol)
Polite translation in English would be "ay fur coat and nay knickers"
You all wait until I've had the stitches out, visited the Garra Rufa fish, then my lovely beautician down at the Age UK. I shall be totally resurrurected.
I'll join DD and Barbara in the den shortly 'cos I'm in pain, real poo pain but thank you all for the joy that you give everyone who has the Screwmatics visiting big time (That's Arthur's neices and nephews)
Cherry x0 -
Oh dear, I am sorry to hear that cherrybim. I ain't in the den - je suis going up the pub, pain dullers and ale works wonders for me. I think you should rest, rest and then rest some more, to ease those pesky joints. Or come up the pub. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
-
Yeah DD, I'll get me hat and drawers on and I'll be right up the pub wiv the rest of yee0

Why bother with drawers? You gotta long coat, wearing a skirt or summat, yes? Who needs knickers? Vilely complicated things they are, especially on bad days. Grrrrrr. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi Cherry,
I have also seen this on the TV it looks great fun even if it’s to watch the squeals coming from the victims...sorry I mean customers. ) )
Can we have pictures????
Well done Toni and congratulations on your 10,000 plus posts.

I didn't like to mention that I don't wear knickers DD, convoluted things that they are with too many openings. Can't even keep a ferret in 'em0 -
