Hi Gang
Just want to thank you for coming with me today. I hope my wet tissues were not too uncomfortable in my pocket. Your ok it was from eyes not mi nose
As I was dreading I will be paying the surgeon another visit in may. (told him I had a wedding in april)
I had another 3 plain xrays and he will be sending me for a ct scan shortly as he wants me injected with dye.
He said it will be a two part opperation, one at the back and one at the front of the neck.He said two screws in the back of neck and the two discs he will shove back from the front. (something like that). He said it is a risky opp with it being so close to spinal cord. (tears just rolled unexpected here, no noise) He was very nice and I think richard will have listened more. The surgeon gonna do a letter in plain english for me and rhummy peeps who i see on 28th.
All I can remember is if I dont have it done sooner or later the consiquenses were not good.
So the idea of collars and injections were out of window.
Anyway after to day and feeling sorry for myself I will concentrate on my daughters wedding plans. Then in may when i see him again worry about it then.
Thanks for reading this.
And thanks for being there in spirit.
love juliepfx

    Hi Julie
That is a lot to take in, I am so glad you had your OH with you, hopefully this op will improve things for you.
I am not sure if its the same op but a neighbour of ours has just had similar, they put screw into the disc through his neck to stabilise his disc.
He was terrified when they told him the risk, the trouble is they have to tell you everything, a bit like the leaflet in the meds.
    wishing you well

    Hi Julie

Heavens girl... that was some consultation.
I wish with all my heart that there was an easier way of alleviating the problems you have with your neck.
what a shock you've had...and of course the tears rolled.... every right to in my book!

You know already we will be with you every step of the way... it's even been known for texts to be sent to and fro the peep's hossie bed using the wonderful pigeon post that our Cris started. so you can be sure that we will be there supporting you in any way we can.

Good on you telling him that you've got a very important wedding to organise first. plenty to do and plan and lots of distraction....

    Love and (((hugs)))

    Hi Julie,
I'm so sorry re the operation, its such a lot of information to take in, atleast your surgeon is taking the time to explain it all. I agree with you, I think you should focus on your daughters wedding for now, it will be a magical day for you all. Thinking of you Poppy X

    Hi Julie

was that really used tissues

I thought it was one of my brie butties and I chewed on a bit.......

Well that doesn't sound much fun does it? Let me say that I don't think he would have suggested it if he didn't think it was absolutely necessary.

As you probably know I've had back op and l'm still here and it was worth it - the risk of leaving it any longer was too great.

No suggestion of collars and jabs in the meantime??

    Love and v gentle hugs

    Oh dear Julie

Sorry to see this, no wonder you were taken by surprise and reduced to tears, what a shock for you. I really hope you find things a little less scary when the news sinks in knowing that they really do need to do this to help and will do all they can to take really good care of you.
Am glad you have the wedding plans to distract you at the moment and we will be here when you need us.
    take care

    Hi Julie

Gosh, that's a lot to think about.. I know nothing about these kind of operations, so it's a learning experience for me just to read about them..

Thanks goodness you are in good hands at the LGI..

The wedding plans will certainly keep you occupied over the next 3-4 months..

    Take care

Oh Julie, sorry you have got to have a future date with the surgeons, not the news you wanted to hear.

However, sounds like you have a good coping strategy - concentrating on daughter's wedding and not thinking about your date further until the month of May itself.

Now where did you put those wedding mags??!

    Speedy
I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

    Hi Julie,

That was a very scary appointment for you and thanks goodness that Richard was with you. It is a lot to take in and I hope the Rheumy appointment on the 28th will make things clearer for you.

All I can do is to send you my support,

    Gentle hugs,

Oh dear, Julie, you don't do things by halves, do you.

For what it's worth a friend of ours had something similar done a couple of years ago (he's confined to a wheelchair) and although he dreaded it, he has been so much better since! Even went on holiday this year, something he hasn't done for a long time.

My daughter got married in April, too.........heavens, it will be their 9th Anniversary soon! It seems like yesterday to me, I must be getting old...........

    Love

Oh that's quite a consultation..... I am sorry it was so heavy for you but glad your oh was with you.

They d have to tell you everything that can go wrong, and they do seem to now a days so much but I am sure they will also take good care of you and you will be fine.

Like Iris said this lot will be with you all the way and leaving you a (((((((((( )))))))))))) and a hope it will all seem a bit better for you once it has sunk in a bit.

Hollow to say but try not to worry and enjoy the wedding thing first without thinking about it. Another ((((())))) Cris xx

Morning every one, had a bit of a restless night, tossed and turned more than usual so was woke every time, my thought was , how will i sleep on a night , i like to sleep on my side will i still do this. oh well will have to wait and see.

Toni :lol: sorry about the tissues, I did suggest a collar but he said no and even to injections. :???: :???:
Will see what rhummy suggests at end of month but don't want to step on peoples toes. She may be able to give me tips.
I didn't realise you had had a back op but i am glad that it has helped. thank you for your support.

Chris7, Thankyou for your support too, I guess in a couple of days I will get used to the idea. On sunday we are going to sort out the grooms and OH suits, so that will be nice. This time last year we went for daughters dress and in june (ithink) it arrived at the shop, it fit perfect and the dress is still there, she will be going in march for one last fit to make sure. (don't think she has put weight on)

DD :lol: bless you, you are still gob smacked, not like you eh? Have a good day , hope you are well.

Marion Yes I am going to be busy, as the time is closing in its cheque writing time :lol: everyone wants paying up front.

Mirabella you also have a right to moan, knees are terrible when they hurt, Sounds like you are one brave lady you have had a few ops, glad they helped, and i am sure mine is for the best too. Had leg off 6 years ago on the 13th and although i have had a few problems of late I am glad I had that done.
So I hope this surgery is even better.

    Skezier
Thankyou for dropping in, I know you are having lots of troubles yourself.
When he mentioned the screws and stuff, you automatically came into my mind, you wanted that procedure and i wanted a collar. (av they got us mixed up  )
You are a braver lady than me, got more guts.
But I know that with your advice and help from the forum i will be ok and find courage.

    Take care all of you
and many thanks again for all these replies
    Love and hugs
