what a waste of time!

Hi Gemma,
sorry i've joined the chat a bit late on this one! got exams at the moment so been studying. i just wanted to say well done for getting up the courage to go and see the rheumys and i'm so sorry they let you down today :-(
it can be so frustrating when you feel like they dont take you seriously. I was first diagnosed with raynaulds at 15, then psoriatic arthritis at 18 and now they reckon i have spondylitis as well - visits just dont get any easier do they? I'm 27 now and am currently taking a trial drug (which seems to be working!) so dont lose faith and keep at them til you get some resolve. Nobody cares about your pain more than you (and us!) so dont let todays disappointment deter you from going again.
I hope your knees arent too sore - i find a nice hot bath and plenty of arnica usually does the trick :-)

Hi Gemma,
I'm sorry to hear your appointment didn't go too well..
They can make us feel so disheartened and at a low when they don't do something to help us feel better... they are unaware of how we are really feeling sometimes...
Although today never went as hoped, like jenny said ,don't let it get you down... If things get bad then go to your gp and be persistent.. you know your body and it's not fair for you to suffer..
Take Care luvie..
Hope you feel bit better soon

It is a yo-yo of a disease, arthritis, one minute up, the next down. I hope you are taking things relatively easy at the moment, having fluid drained is not pleasant and initially can make things ache more. Sometimes there isn't much they can do (well, OK, most of the time!) but at least he has taken off the excess, that should make life more comfortable. I wish you well. DDHave you got the despatches? Hi Gemma, just tad back through some of this.. Did they not bother with the steroids at all? I've oa in both my knees and had them done last november, after resting for about three days the knees felt wonderful, better than they have in well over twenty years.. Felt fresh and lubricated instead of crunchy and clunky. Lol
It did wear off by christmas but just to have them few weeks was bliss.. I had them done again on the seventh of this month too.. They don't feel quite as good as they did last time but he said he had used a slow release steroid.. Could take a few weeks, had spine done at same time..
Hope your knees settle soon, knee pain is awful, not that the other pains are a barrel of laughs... You know what I mean.. Lol
Be well...Me-Tony

It all sucks!! LOL

Oh dear, gemmapetken, knees have a habit of doing that and arthritis pain rarely vanishes. Magnets can help ease some of it but they won't take it all away. What pain meds do you have? I am sorry I cannot remember, having a rough day myself. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi
Know the foggy brain syndrome well!!!
I have butrans patches, tramadol, amatriptyline, and I'm on Sulpha and something else for the RA!

You're on the strong stuff so there's nowhere else to go, really. These things only offer relief, they do not knock it all on the head. One adjusts to it, in time. The pain is always there in the background and all you can do is your best in ignoring it. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
