What do I do? I work at home as a tutor - I specialise in those with dyslexia. I don't have very many people now as I no longer have the stamina. Having said that, I have an absolute sweetie turning up any moment now - he will be seven on Sunday and DD is smitten. Absolutely smitten. I swear you could sweep the floor with his eyelashes, they are that long. We will be having a bash at the tricky matter of two letters starting a word, well, that's the plan. I think we'll go with spat, spit and spot. Lovely, clear sounds. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Sorry, you meant the arthritis? What do I do about that? I am on some pretty heavy-duty meds for it, which are doing all that they can, I just have to learn to be more appreciative of their feeble efforts and I am trying to do just that. I have had to curtail work as I now lack the stamina and concentration, and that is entirely due to pain. I have been i n pain since April 97, I am used to it now, but coping with that does leave one little room for anything else. I keep going, whilst adjusting whatever I can to help me - I cook sitting down, I iron sitting down, I hoover sitting down (awkward but can be done) - I have yet to master washing up sitting down, my arms are not long enough! I pace myself, do a bit, rest a bit, do a it more etc.
As I see it I have a choice, give in or fight. Why should I give in? What will that achieve for me? There are times when the arthritis (it looks like this, does beat me, and that is fair enough, it's a strong enemy, but I will not let myself be beaten by it for good. Absolutely not. When I am a little down about it all, I come on here and tell people and I am boosted immediately with support. I try to support in return, it's how things should work, in my book.
I have a dying cyclamen - lots of spindly new leaaves, not much else. Does it need feeding? Would chips do the trick? Have a good week-end, janeys. You are doing all right. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -

Thank you for your kind words - believe you me I am not marvellous, but I do know what fighting this god-awful stuff is like.
My new one turned up today with a present - he has painted a portrait of me! It's actually quite good - I shall frame it and put it on my 'office' wall. He will be seven on Sunday - yet despite the excitement of that he worked really hard. We didn't do spit etc - they were too hard. I told him how to write a 'd', you start with a 'c', make it an 'a' and then a 'd', so homework words use all those letters. This is much more useful for him and homework should always be useful! I hope you have a good week-end. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
