Hi folks, some of you know that I had my knees and facet joint (spine) steroid injections a while ago... Well it will be three weeks tomorrow, nothing so far, zip, squat diddly.... The specialist did say that it was a slow acting steroid (not had them ones before) and may take a few weeks to work.. Am I being too impatient do ya think... I know it's been self inflicted lately but if anything things are hurting more
Oh well, I am still my happy self
Hope everyone is ok today...

Hi Tony
Sorry to hear that you are not feeling any benefit from the injections - when they advised that they were slow acting did they say how long you might have to wait before feeling the benefit? I should querie it with them
Take care happy man

I have never had any joy from these things, Tony, and I know you have pushed yourself to the utter limits over the past couple of weeks - I hope you haven't negated any benefit from so doing, but I do fear that you might. Rest over the next few days, try to give them a chance to do their thing - you never know. How many weeks is it since they were done? Three? DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi Tony,
I had a depo med injection in my arm last week as my knee was swollen and painful (as were fingers, thumb and toes) and I can honestly say it has helped with the knee, it has gone down a lot. However, the rest of me is exactly the same swollen and painful.
Is there someone (Rheumy nurse, GP etc) that you could phone for advice? I don't know anything re slow release steroid jabs, but I would have thought there would be some improvement however small by now?
It's not nice I know, hang in there and ask for some advice all the best Poppy X'grá agus solas'

Thanks Cath, DD... Yeah, three weeks tomorrow.. It's probably me being impatient.. I know you're right about pushing things, as you say, been a busy old fart lately, haha... Will be resting though.. For a while.
You never know, they might kick in, telling me it might take a few weeks doesn't really give me an idea of when....
I know not to pin any hopes on them working though... Gotta admit, the first ones I had last year in mi knees were great, my knees ain't felt that good since I was a kid... Pity they only lasted about a month, but I was happy with that though...
Thanks ladies....
I am indeed, the happy man
Dunno why but today is gonna be a good day, **** the painMe-Tony

Toni..
I can't believe it i just wrote a message and now it has dissapeared again... grrrrr
I basically said i had the depo injection which is supposed to be released slowly in your body which is why it last 12 weeks..
I had mine 22nd dec.. i noticed it has helped great with my inflammation in my hands , shoulders and neck.. but am still struggling elsewhere, but then i think would it be worse if i wasn't on the steroids??? So it's kind of working for me at the moment..
Maybe it's time for yours to start kicking in.. shal give it a kick up the backside for u if u like lol..
I really hope it starts working soon for you..maybe give it a few more weeks and no improvement then maybe mention it to your gp..
Take care
Tracy

Thanks Tinks, Julie...
You never know, they may do something at some point, maybe I really didn't help things doing too much when the maltesers were over..
We will see....
And the fact I have just put another wardrobe together won't help   I know.....
It did need to be done, and it was easier than the drawers...Me-Tony

Hi Tony
I really hope they work for you, I was told when I had mine, that if they fail the first time, they can work the second.
I refused another, you might want to give it a go.
Good Luck

Hi Tony
Just read your post about your inj, hope they work, the sooner the better hey? Is there someone you can ask about how long to wait as a few wks could be anything from 3 - 6 I guess? Think if they told me I would be expecting some change by now.
Maybe put your feet up and chill out to come good tunes for a few days and see what happens.
Good luck and hope they kick in soon 8)Arty
Hope today is a good day for you0 -

Hi Tony,
Sorry you have not had a good response to the jabs but when i had my lumber done it didn't seem to work at all... once the local had worn off yet over time 9and it was time as well) i realised it actually hadn't been hurting as much and I was a bit freere so you never know....
Fingers crossed for you..... you just don;t know for sure cus mine was weeks later i realised, very slow but it did help in time. Cris xx0 -
Morning tony wardrobe looks good
you do a mean bacon butty thanks
Hope you are not in too much pain today
juliepf0 -
Hi Tony,
Well I hope you have given yourself a day off today. As you say give it a few more days and then ring up and ask if it usually takes this amount of time to work.
May be if you can manage to take some time out and see if things feel any different.
Take care,
Ix0 -
I, Cris, Julie... Cheers mi dears...
I sort of half took it steady today, had a lazy morning but then went a bit crazy in the afternoon...
Yep, moved more bedroom furniture, instead of waiting for the neighbour to help. But his other half was taken into hospital last night and I dint wanna bother him
Besides, we managed to get said furniture onto a sheet and slide it all as we have all laminate flooring... I know, that's not the point, and yes, mi knees are bloody killing now but the bedroom is now about 90% finished..
Lol
I will take it steady tomorrow...
Now don't start telling me off, already had that from OH & neighbour! :eek:Me-Tony
