I'm a book-a-holic, though at the moment I'm trying to read Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and I'm not getting on with it. Anyone read it, is it likely to pick up?

Just read Company of Liars by Karen Maitland, excellent book and it was a surprise ending which I never expected.

Hi, I love books have lots of them. I struggle sometimes because of the brain fog, but reading takes my mind off the pain.

I love lots of authors. Just read The wrong sort of wife by Elise Chidley. Also Call me madam by Dawn Annandale, which was interesting, its a true story.

Love Karin Slaughter, Sophie Kinsella and loads of others.

I don't read very much, I tend only to read during our holidays in France - since I can't understand the TV! My OH recommends books to me, here's my small selection:

If This Is a Man - Primo Levi
If This Is a Man (Italian title: Se questo è un uomo; United States title Survival in Auschwitz) is a work by the Italian writer, Primo Levi, describing his 11 months—from February 21, 1944 until liberation on January 27, 1945—in the German concentration camp at Auschwitz in Poland, during the Second World War. The book is described as a memoir, but it goes beyond mere recollection by seeking to consider in narrative form the human condition in all its extremes.[1]

There are sequels to this book, which are also really good read.

His Dark Materials - Philip Pullman
His Dark Materials is a trilogy of fantasy novels by Philip Pullman comprising Northern Lights (1995, published as The Golden Compass in North America), The Subtle Knife (1997), and The Amber Spyglass (2000). It follows the coming-of-age of two children, Lyra Belacqua and Will Parry, as they wander through a series of parallel universes against a backdrop of epic events

Great fantasy book - you may have seen the movie for the first part of the trilogy but its nothing compared to the actual book.

I've also read the collection of Harry Potter books, really got into them, 30 and no kids... where's my excuse?! :D

Ooooh I'm a total bookworm... i usually have several on the go at once!! I'm nearing the end of Ozzy Osborne's biography, Wow what an incredible life that man has led, I've also read Sharon's book too, The other book i'm reading (lunchtime at work) Is American Psycho, I'm only in the middle of the 1st chapter so too early to tell what it's going to be like.

I have a house full of books, well about 3 medium bookcases full (some shelves double layered) and plenty piling up on the floor!! I loved the Twilight Saga (team Jacob for those in the know) I haven't read Harry Potter nor seen the films. I didnt like the Stig Larsson book's. I just don't understand his style of writing and it bored me rigid by chapter 3 of the girl with the dragon tattoo i'd given up. I also tried the girl who played with fire and didn't like that either.... I've also read a few Val McDermid books that were ok.
I'm really liking Michael Slade and the special x series. I absolutely love Lee Child, MMM Jack Reacher .. now there's a real man!!

I'm also a mad film buff, I sat and watched all three Transporter movies, Back to the future, and Mr Nice (Howard Marks) yesterday. This morning I watched Adulthood, which was the sequel to Kidulthood, both very good, Directed by Noel Clarke (who was rose's boyfriend in the new Dr Who when it started)

Is there a film group that I haven't found yet???

    xx

hi NMB.. I started a movie type thread way back yonder.. I have a dvd collection in Vals cafe but it's been that long it's probably covered in dust, sorry Val, lol..
I will try find the thread tonight when I'm on the pc, it's easier than using the mobile like I am now..
Noel Clark also played (I think his name was Gary) Gary's son on Aufweidersein Pet... Gary was the one with the spikey hair.. Can't remember the actors name but he sadly died...

    Hi NMB,

I'm so glad you think the same as me about the Stig Larsson books - do you think something's lost in translation, I shall give up too now.

I also like the Jack Reacher series.
