Hi DD, I just read your thread but couldn't think how to respond. I would hope Humira does help in some small way as you have said your blood results show an improvement. It is never a waste. Just like rationing knee and hip replacements isn't acceptable as we all need care. And as for your cold my GP told me to take lemon and honey but I felt that wasn't going to be enough. Anti biotics were given thankfully. I still have an irritating cough though and hope it doesn't take off. Sorry should have put this on your thread really!

My bloods have been absolutely brilliant since I started the humira, my inflammatory markers have been below 5 all the way thro - in fact my last ESR measure was marked at 'less than one'. Good bloods is a result, I know, it's just a shame that that is not reflected in the arthritis, which has continued to develop and flare regardless. Never mind, one cannot have everything. It does, however, work far better for you and that is absolutely a good thing. DD

Day 9 after Humira injection and the pain has returned in my knees, particularly the left knee. It was the right knee last week.I suppose th left one took most of the weight last week. You can see the swelling around the knee.

My little girl(age 7) is also suffering from joint pains and so I am watching her closely too.She has had hot water bottles on her legs and I have had to rub them for her. She is on movicol , so I thought it might be vitamin deficiency or dehydration but the GP didn't think it was anything to do with that. She has been much better this weekend and went bowling so that is good news.

I am so sorry your knee pain is returning, I do hope its short lived and you can get back on track...arthur really does make me swear... :evil
Like your daughter my granddaughter who is 10 this week has been having joint pain...one minute its her ankle then her knee ....at one time they would say its growing pains...but you do worry knowing what we know...she is fine this morning..so hopefully it is growing pains,
Good luck with your meds and I hope your little girls pains disappear.

(Assume warm Geordie accent) Day 9 in the Humira House and tkachev has some sad news . . . . .

That must be a disappointment for you, did it do this before you stopped taking it? Two days after my injection I apparently have a few better days mobility-wise, but I don't feel any difference in pain levels. It could well be that it needs to build back into your system - only five more days then you get the next whack: I hope that lasts a deal longer.

I also hope your daughter is OK today. If she managed bowling then that is a good thing. DD

    Hi Elizabeth,

hopefully as you build up the levels of humira in your body again, it will last longer each time (or the levels will not drop so low before the next dose.)

How exciting be on campus again, I seem to have missed what you are doing there?!

Hoping daughter's aches and pains are growing pains and nothing more.

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

Thank you for your re assuring post Barbara.I know I shouldn't worry but I really assumed it was to do with her 'other' problems but the GP dismissed this.I also got told off by said GP for mentioning arthritis! I do hope your Grand daughter is okay . Like her, one minute it is wrist pains, then ankles, then back. Perhaps I am being too anxious due to my own arthritis.

    All the best

I did sort of expect it.No I had great knees since Oct 2008.Not a twinge. But I can see the inflammation/swelling now. It has been fine for the 9 days
Only 5 more days that is what I am focusing on.

    Hi Speedy,

I am doing an art appreciation course, not degree level I'm afraid but is great fun.
Sorry if I sound anxious but every day a bit of her aches. She is only 3 stone and has a small appetite. I just need to keep an eye.

    Hi Cris,

You have enough on your plate. I read your cold is ongoing poor you. Mine is better and isn't bothering me.
I'm doing an art appreciation course. For a chance to socialise. We are going round a museum tomorrow. I am hoping my knees hold out.

I am keeping an eye on daughter. She is so much better generally- she takes her meds and her hair is lovely still. She loves her glasses but her eyes have deteriorated again. You know all about that.

Thank you for the bucket of well draft. I will need it.

    ((((()))) gentle hugs Cris

Cor! Two and a bit years of comfy knees, no wonder you are disappointed. I hope the next humira whack has better and more long-lasting results for you, my fingers are crossed. Here's to you resuming full membership of the HHBs! DD

Yes I have had all my pain in my ankles and hips but my knees have been perfect. This is why I was so surprised when it returned in my knees. My back has joined in now but that will be be due to the funny walking, change of weight bearing I think,
