Had right forefoot sorted mid December. Two screws three staples, all permanent. No pain, all absolutely wonderful and marvellous and I've just had postal confirmation that the Surgeon is going to do my left foot next Wednesday the 16th Feb

Best wishes for better days for everyone who shares the misery of RA and indeed let's not forget OA. As I well know the two can and often do go hand in hand.

Oh this is good news, I wish you well and I hope the recovery from the next one goes as smoothly as the recovery from the last. (it has gone smoothly, yes?) Let us know how you get on. DD

Thank you Cath & DD

I know it sounds ridiculous but being the veteran of some 35 ops (not all of them ortho) I just cannot express how wonderful it feels (right foot op) not to try to walk on bubble wrap with the consequence of unwanted falls

I'll certainly let everyone know how it goes because that may well help someone who is hesitant about foot surgery.

Naturally I'd like everyone of you lovely peeps to be with me on Wednesday. Not because I'm at all worried but if I'm low down on the list I'll be bored with the waiting

Oh, I have a message for Barbara

I'm going to get myself put on the list for the other hip and the other knee So don't you be affeared of it my love. There's such a long waiting list. Go for it...it might take 2 years in the present climate

Cocky old mares are the most fun to be with post op.

35 ops and still looking for more, though? Leave the odd operating theatre for the rest of us please. Or, do you have a particularly dishy surgeon/anaesthetist?

Be thinking of you Wed. Hope the bedpan doesn't nip.

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

Good to know it works and gives relief.
I've just been refered to see if they can 'fix' my forefoot. And was feeling a bit nervous about the whole idea.

35 ops though  I hope they have all been worth it.

Hope it all goes brilliantly for you today, cherrybim. With a bit of luck you might even get the one surgical gown in the country on which all the ties fasten. Good luck.

Hello everyone and thank you for all the kind wishes
This time it was a bit sniffy. When the nerve block wore off I was climbing up the wall a tad. Don't think I slept for 24 hours afterwards

However, today is good so I would recommend that anyone who needs a "forefront reconstruction" goes for it.

Very interesting interlude whilst chatting to the lovely lady in the bed next door  Our "mutual surgeon" together with "Charlie", chief honco, in the plaster room were apparently instrumental in developing the K9. My "new friend Janet" had had two total reconstructions on both her feet plus ankles and found the K9 invaluable. Her present op has been the same as mine so now we're "bestest friends"

    Hi Cherry,

Glad you are out and on the road to recovery.
I know how you feel, I was the same when the block wore off.
Still not had a good sleep yet, just a few fitfull catnaps but as everyone has told me, it will ease through time.

Good luck with your recovery and I'm sure everyone here will be rooting for you.

Good to see you back and with a new best friend which must have helped a little. Hope the recovery goes well and that you soon catch up on some sleep. Hope each day gets a little easier.
