Hi Everyone
Late this afternoon I had a call from my employer, they want me to start back at work on Monday on the agreed reduced hours 9-1 for two weeks then it will be reviewed and the hours increased week by week until I am back to full time.
I have asked about the other things - agreement to max 40 hours
- Part time or Job share
- agreement to no lifting or bending
I am told that the terms of my return will be set out in writing upon my return on Monday.
It had better be - I am not backing down on these things, for if I do I know I will quickly be in agony again.
Anyway if at any point it becomes too much I am just going to have to tell them - My health has to come first, I dont want to be on recurring sick leave (this is my 3rd period in 6 months) its not good for me or for the company - we shall have to wait and see how it all works out and I will keep you all updated.

Ooooooooh, that was short notice! I hope you are able to cope with it - do you feel ready now? Stick to your guns about the hours - they are crucial to your over-all future. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Good luck Caterina, I hope the four hours will be manageable. As long as they stick to the no bending and lifting - things should be a lot better for you.
These managers are at all supportive or helpful are they, they forget we are people who are basically do our best.

Hi Cath
Gosh that is a quick return but glad only 4 hours to start with. Do check the terms carefully on Monday before signing anything eh! Hope you have a good weekend and feel ok for next week. Well done and Good luck.

This morning I have spent time putting my list together! I am insisting upon a written return to work plan and risk assessment. I just do not trust my employers to get this phased return right and at the end of the day if I dont protect my own interests and health I know that no one else will.

Hi Cath,
Agree its best they do put it into writing cus sometimes things can so easily be 'forgotten'. More than that I hope it will work out for you and you will find its not as hard as your thinking it might be.
Fingers crossed for you flower. Cris xx0 -
just wanted to wish you luck. will have everything crossed for you.

Good luck for tom luvie. . Will be thinking of you. .xxTracyxx0

Thanks everyone for your continuing support and best wishes for my return to work tomorrow.
I am a bit apprehensive as although they have asked me to go back and agreed to the phased return, there has been no mention with regard to my condition of a 40 hour week or any feedback re my request for eventual part-time or job share. So that along with a written back to work plan and a risk assessment will be my first jobs in the morning.
I will Post as soon as I get in to let you know how it has gone.

Hello Everyone
As promised, my update on my return to work......
I arrived promptly at 9.00 ( I used to go in a bit early). I had a meeting with my Manager and HR and we have agreed my working for the next two weeks - 4 hours a day, mon-fri - No personal care. We will then hold a review on the 7th March to see if I am ready (and able) to start upping the hours.
This morning I have just undertaken some admin work that was outstanding and tomorrow I have arranged to go out and do some assessments.
The first morning has gone ok and I have not taken the slightest bit of notice when my co worker began to bleat about how she had no one to cover care in the morning.
I am waiting for the written plan/agreement to be typed up - should get it tomorrow, and will be checking it closely for accuracy!
Mind you I had had enough at the end of the 4 hours, my back and neck were killing me. Just had a nice cuppa and some pain dullers!

Glad you took it steady Cath and that it went well for you..

So far, so good: well done, caterina57 - especially on ignoring the bleater - she should try coping with what you have coped with, yes? DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
