Hi All,

I've been dreading tomorrow! and it is almost here now. I'm booked in the Rhuemmy day ward for my knee to be drained and to have an injection of red, whilst my leg is in a splint! sounds wonderful, an excellent way to spend a wednesday

I will let you all know how i get on...

Mark

I knew it was on the horizon, lorica, and here we are. I wish you the very best, I hope it all goes well and yes, there are probably much better ways to spend a Wednesday but if it helps . . . . . . . DD

So today is the day for red wee and red tears - should be interesting, lorica! I think the knee is splinted after the jab for a while, isn't it, to keep it still? I hope you don't get too bored or tired or achey. Good luck, I shall be thinking of you. DD

Late coming to this thread Mark... but best of luck with your Red injection today :!: .

I had this done to my right knee in February, so I know what you'll be going through. Not an easy procedure to have done, but I do hope it gives you some benefit over the next few weeks. The red wee and tears (more of a rust colour) don't last too long but (tears) are quite dramatic.

Let us know when you can how it all went.

    thinking of you..

The splint wasnt to bad, the time recovering was ok. Just glad to be home!

    Thanks for everyones support.

And Iris its nice to see you back on the forum.

    Hiya Mark

so good that you're back home now. take it easy now Mark if you can! ... I was told bed for 48hrs to keep the leg straight and not weight bear on the injected knee if at all possible.

Did they manage to aspirate theyour knee first? .. I think that helps the whole process, with the likelihood of a better result.

My problem was the knee refused to be aspirated so when the doc injected the knee with the red antibiotic it came back out under pressure cause there was so much fluid in the knee already. He had to sit there kneeling by the bedside pressing on the spot until it closed over (kept that bit info from you until after you'd had it done :lol: )

Fingers and toes crossed that you get a great result from this injection. :!:

Let us know how you are.... xxx

    Iris xx

ps.. thanks for the welcome back

The doctor put the needle in and had to wiggle it around, but she suddenly got the spot and the liquid wouldnt stop in the end they got 35ml out.

I was warned about the red pee and tears!! At the moment all I can say is Ive not had the reason to cry yet so not seen red tears....! Think I had better go to bed my missus would go mad if she saw me sat at the computer....

    Thanks all

It's good to hear that you are done and I hope you do gain some benefit from it. I also hope that things are not too sore - I remember well how my knees felt after aspiration. DD

Let it scream, your knee and the potential benefit are far more inmportant than shiny surfaces and fluff-free carpets. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise: if they get on your case offer to swap. DD

    Well said DD!!

Mark... rest, rest and more rest. :!: that way you'll be giving the injection best chance of working.

Not seen the red tears or wee yet Mark? In the absence of being able to see the red wee (there are some things that are strictly private :!: ) my lovely son offered to nip me so hard I'd be moved to tears ; that way he could witness first hand the 'awesome' sight! how lucky am I to have such a caring son?:lol:

    take care Mark,

I am so sorry i missed this too.

You have been very brave - well done you. I agree with the others - these things need you to rest to give them the best possible chance to work.

So knickers to the housework

    Takeaway for tea too.

    Love
