    Hi Elna,

Late seeing this and glad its all going ok there. I am surprised they taking the wires out that soon cus mine were in 6 weeks. I guess its cus they took the joints out of mine and they were healing and knitting together differently?

I never once wanted the wires ... in fact having lost the corks they were something of a problem from the beginning  Horrible pain full things.....

You could twins it and use it as a hook? ((( ))) and a hope it all carries on going well and works Cris xx

    Hi Cris,

I can very well imagine that losing the corks on the end of the pins would cause a big problems.I have not had any joints taken out like you. I hope you are ok at the moment. I know you have not been at all well and I am sorry.

    Love

    Hi Elna
I can see the difference.......most of us have enough trouble with shoes without having pins sticking out of our toes :lol:

ohh Elna, your op sounds rather grim! Are the pins and boot like those pins and frames people have on complex fractures when they break a limb? Good that the x-rays show your toes looking as they should.

    Hi Speedy

No the op was not grim, I do not have to wear any frame. They call the shoe they provide you with a boot but it more like a very old fashioned sandal with the toes visible and then two straps of velcro so you can make them as tight or lose as you want for maximum comfort. The back of the boot/sandal is filled in. It is a bit difficult to explain, it is comfortable but I will be happy when I can wear "ordinary" shoes, sandals again.

Sorry for the long silence elna, things are rough at the mo. It all sounds very positive for you and I am glad that you are coping OK with it all. Here's to lovely new toes and the onset of prettier shoes, yes? I wish you well. DD

    Hi DD

I know you have been feeling really rough and I am so sorry. I hope I may be able to wear nicer looking shoes, we shall see. I do hope you are turning the corner, even if it is very slow.

    Thinking of you,
    Luv

Oh, I've done something elna, or rather something has been done to me, no doubt about that. Keep getting better, please. DD

That's a relief then Elna, hopefully you will be wearing footwear of your choice very soon.

    Speedy
I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

    Hi Speedy

I will probably not be wearing shoes as soon as I would like! With a size 8 foot, wide fitting, I will still have problems but hopefully not as much as before and that has been years! Flip flops will be ok though, more than likely, I have hidden my feet in crocs for quite a few summers! I have kept most of my shoes/sandals from years back so hopefully some of them may be comfortable and even fit me now when that foot has healed.

I hope you are getting along ok,

    Luv
