Sorry I'm late but for about 3 days couldnt get on the site then spent a good part of the time answering the posts that had come into my inbox.
Try not to disappear......at times like this you need this forum....at other times other people need your wisdom.
OK.,.,...Toni mentioned my almost op.
What happened was I was on paracetamol....arthritis in hips and lower spine.
Went to GP to see if I could get something a bit stronger {after about 7 yrs of this} He sent me to an orthopaedic surgeon who did x rays and when I got back to his office he said "You need 2 new hips"...Gobsmacked was the word
Had the THR February a year ago.....due to have the 2nd one done Oct {same year} and a couple of weeks before the THR he sent me for an MRI.....next visit to him he said "it appears to be coming from your back". {he'd already done one hip}
He referred me to a back specialist and like you it was a different NHS authority.....he said after about 15 mins.....Nothing I can do for you except an operation and I dont advise that {I suppose because I was older} he referred me to a physio, who referred me to an acupuncturaist. Thats where I am at the moment...having about 6 appointments and then about a 3 month break and then another 6.
I suddenly realised that you are supposed to have an appointment a year after you have had your hip operation and here I was 15 months later and not a word since I had been sent to the back specialist....I rang them.
Oh you've gone of the radar screen.....going to a different NHS!!!!! so keep an eye on them....you are right they dont seem to talk to each other...anyway I've got an appt made for my 12 month hip appt.....in June....so 16 months later :x
I dont know what I'll say if he offers to do the other hip now???
On the x ray they both looked bad.

I do hope that you are making a little more sense of it all now. You look out for so many people on the forum, including me with your lovely little pms and it breaks my heart to think of you in with all this dilemma. If the consultants cannot come up with something, how the heck are you supposed to and it doesn't instill much trust in them does it, which it vital for you.Why can't surgeons see the body as a whole not just the parts they operate on. I wish I knew what to say to you.

Sending you gentle hugs and hoping that soon your mind will be a little clearer on which way to go forward.
