I am pleased to hear that all is going well. Do any exercises you have been told, rest as much as you need and resist the temptation to start tap-dancing again! Keep well. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi Sarah
so good that you are home and sounding so positive too.
Purple legs? my favourite colour.
How long were you in hospital Sarah?
Hope your recovery and rehab goes smoothly... and that you have family/ friends around to help you.

Hi Sarah,
Glad you are home and on the way to recovery. Yes those stockings are the bee’s knees aren’t they.
I hope the purple is beginning to fade for you.
You take care of yourself,

So good to hear you are home Sarah. Purple legs, I have bruising around my hip where they took the bone for my neck graft and well, my neck and chest, bruising galore. So you are not alone I am taking arnica tablets for the bruising since being home. Should have started them before the op, but completely forgot about any bruising that might occur, silly mare that I am!!
I hope that you are getting along ok,
Love

Hi all,
Things are going well so far thank you. I can now lift and bend my leg fairly well whihc is a lot more than I could do this time last week. My legs are now moving on to blues, yellows and greens.
I was in hospital for four days as they needed a bed and I was the youngest in there so got kicked out. My husband had to take extra days off work but thankfully they were ok about it, as long as it isn't a regular occurance.
My staples are coming out on Friday. Should I be worried about that?
I hope you are all feeling well today and enjoying some October sunshine. Thanks for all your thoughts and well wishes, it certainly makes the recovery much easier.

I'm guessing you're not planning on it being a regular occurence then???
Blues, yellows & greens sounds a bit Van Gogh. You could be worth a fortune, Sarah.
Staple removal? I've never found it a problem. Occasionally one can scratch a little, that's all. You'll be fine.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Glad you are doing well Sarah, Im sure when the staples are out you will feel more comfy youll be fine ((())) take care Linda0
-
Well as you know RA can be relied upon to work around your work commitments when planning flare ups and the need for operations so we should be fine!?
Thanks for that. I am hoping it will feel a little less tight afterwards, the process just looked a little brutal.
Thanks again, Sarah x0 -
It was my least favourite part of all three ops that involved them but it doesn't last long, and life is a little easier once they are out. Once they are happy that all is healed, then gently - and I mean gently - rub in a little oil into the scar each day, this will help to keep the tissue supple and may minimise scarring. Don't go for the fancy Bio stuff, it's way to expensive. Baby oil or olive oil is just as good. Rubbing the scar will also help nerves cut during the op to come back to life: if the scar tingles just lightly drum your fingers on the tingly bit and that will help to ease matters. The oil and drumming were the best tips from the best physio I have ever had. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

hi Sarah i will be sat beside you on Friday mine come out on the 10th , I've had a realignment and resurface on my tkr ,had stitches for that different surgeon this time , so i will hold your hand if you hold mine , xxI know i am a lady ,all life is a journey xx MAY xx0

Thanks DD, nobody told me that after my shoulder replacement last year, great advice. I did wonder what I could do to help with my tingling scar so thank you. I was given Bio oil as a present but I will definitely try baby oil this time, it is ridiculously expensive.
Bertyboy I will definitely hold your hand if you hold mine, I hope everything went well with the surgery and all is well when the stitches come out. Take care xx0 -
Hi Sarah
Great to hear from you. You are doing well. No need to worry re getting de-stapled. Better out than in as they say and you will find things easier without them. The staples have done their job, time for the out. I never look at anything going on, like blood tests, destapling etc, inform the nurse I would rather not have a running commentary, shut my eyes, think of something pleasant and before I know it, they will say it is over. Works every time for me.

Thanks Elna, I will definitely try to avert my eyes. Like all these things I'm sure the thought of it is worse than the actual experience, but I won't know that until it's done. Hope you are feeling well today xx0

Thank you for asking, Sarah, I am ok considering that I am only on Day 6 post op from my neck op. I am badly bruised but am taking Arnica tablets which I am sure help to make the bruising fade quicker. I have had two new knees and with the first one, I did not take arnica but with the second one, I did. Unless it was pure fluke, the bruising disappeared faster second time round.
Remember to shut your eyes

no prob with stitches i am sure as you have been through the hard bit god luck valval0
-
Thanks everyone, Elna I'm glad you are doing well. Keep up the good work. I wish I had thought of taking arnica, hindsight is a wonderful thing though as they say.
Thank you tjt and valval, I am hoping the hardest part is what has already happened...
Thank you Toni, I am sure I will be ok. I'm usually ok once I get there, it's just the thought of it beforehand that gives me the collywobbles.
On a happier note, I did go for a walk in the real world today. Only about 100 yards to a coffee shop from the car but still, progress. And the coffee was rather tasty so a pleasant reward.
Hope everyone is having a good day and not too windswept xx0 -
hi Sarah just checking how things went on Friday with you staples , hope all went well and you are progressing well xxI know i am a lady ,all life is a journey xx MAY xx0

Hi bertyboy, thanks for your message. All went well yesterday. It wasn't too bad really. Knee sore today but trying to keep it moving. How are you feeling about Monday? what time is your appointment? Just so I know what time I'm needed for hand holding duties. Hope it goes well xxx0
