Hi All,

Iris is going for yet another op (TKR) on thursday (she goes into hospital on wednesday) and well this one is worrying her a bit and she has had so many op's could we all send her support and if necessary drag her there kicking and screaming  Cris xx

Iris that evil thing has trashed your life long enough now and his time is up....

I hope once they got him out they strangle him and give him hell for what he has done to you.

Will be in your pocket, on mass of course, and got everything crossed for you.

Your going to be fine and just remember to ask about the white anesthetic that comes in a giant syringe pump.... its so much kinder when you wake up. Leaving a crescendo of noise from this lot and have chucked in a couple of howls my self cus if you can ;t beat them..... Love and so many hopes with side dish of knee go well and joint heal quick. (((((((((( )))))))))) Cris xxx

Thank you dear Cris for putting the word out about Iris.

    Dear Iris,

It does sometimes seem like one op after another doesn't it, but the offending knee is well past its sell by date , so best be rid of it. Many of us have had new knees that should you need help and advice we will all be queuing up to try to help and assist you in your post op recovery. You are a very positive, kind, friendly and sensible person and will be the ideal patient whilst in hospital. I hope you are not rushed out of hospital too soon, although it is always good to be back home, but whilst in there you only have yourself to think about, everything else is taken care of.

All will be well, I can feel it in my old richety bones. I will be thinking of you, you brave girl.

Will we be able to be updated whilst you are away from the forum? We would like to know how our Iris is getting on as soon as possible.

Lots of love and gentle hugs
    Elna x

Thank you so much :!: Cris , Barbara, Daylily, DD, Berty, Hileena, May, Cloud 9, Toni, Anita, Elna, Lala, Val, Dibdab, Roses, Magenta, Vonski, Ironic, JuliePF and Mig.

Your kind posts, advice, hugs, positive vibes and support are reallyappreciated. :!: and have given me a well needed confidence boost for Thursday. I know we all say 'it really does help' to have the great support of the forum.... but that's because it does :!: . Reading posts when you're feeling a bit wobbly about going in for an op makes such a difference . There really is no comparison. thank you all.xxx

I can hardly believe, after waiting what seemed like eons, that the Op for 'the evil one' (very funny but apt, Cris  ) is almost upon me.
I have been kinda dreading this one  as I know it'll put a lot of pressure on my weakened wrists having to support me post op... but I've been sneakily getting prepared by using the gutter crutches in advance. I'm also very anxious about the immediate post op personal care.... (using a bed-pan is a no no for me  ) I know it's silly, but I can't help worrying about it
My back and neck have been having their own little party recently and I've been having stern words with them not to try and steal the limelight.!

I know I've been fortunate with the advice of the 2 orthos (upper and lower limb surgeons) involved in my care as they took the decisions about when and in which order I should have the ops... and so far it's worked a treat. The left wrist fusion, then Wally (right wrist replacement) and Tiny Tim (finger joint replacement) are all well healed and settled in so I am at my 'best' now for the right TKR. Decisions about the timing of the second TKR will be taken once they see how I'm progressing this time round.

So... I suppose I'll need to start thinking about what to take in with me (tea bags being a high priority  ).

    thanks once again forum buddies.

Morning Iris when I had my TKR last year Catheterisation was the normal practice for everyone (put in when you are in theatre and sedated) so no bedpans or Loo patrol for 48hrs, not a problem. Wishing you a good op day, kind and understanding staff and if you are feeling lop sided thats us all crammed into your pocket  (((())))Take care Linda

    Hi Barbara
I hesitated to post such a personal bit of info. but it has been worrying me more than the op  (bizarre I know)
It's reassuring to know I'm not the only one!

    Hi Lalla
thanks for that  I did mention at pre-op that I had a well ingrained inability to use a bed pan... but was told they don't catheterise as a norm if you're having a GA :???: (which is what I'm having)
I'll have another chance to discuss it when I'm admitted on Wed afternoon.

thanks again for your support... your 'lop-sided' comment made me smile!

    Hi Iris
    I'll be with you {except for a short time on Thur when I'm have my flu vaccine.} I have a phobia about bedpans as well.....luckily when I had my THR I was neither catheterisied nor asked to use a bed pan {I knw its a diffee t op} I had a spinal block,.,,,,,and they got me up to the loo as soon as I need it {with help at first of course}

    Good Luck and Love
