UPDATE ON GALLBLADDER

Hi, If you remember I was sent to see a gallbladder specialist last Monday.
His first words were "I'm not sure why you have been sent to me"
Anyway he said he would talk to his "x ray buddies" the next day {last Tuesday} About the MRI. He would let me know by the end of the week.
That came and went and I waited until the post came today.....nothing!!!
So I rang his secretary this morning. She said I will see him at lunchtime and find out whats happening and ring you..
I suddenly realised it was 5.45pm and i hadnt heard from her...I rang her and she was still there. "I didnt see him at lunchtime" she said. When I pushed a bit she said "I dont think he's got the answers he wants yet" {she didnt seehim  } Anyway I said he has had a week. He said he would discuss it with his x ray buddies on Tuesday and let me know. ....I'll e.mail him and that will get to him in the morning and I'll ring you and tell you what he says.....been here before I think
I said I think I will ring Dr Edmonds as well...{he's the generalist....that referred me to him and according to my GP has taken over the case and "will tie it all up" were here words} His secretary said there is no need to ring him.....Dr Bagwat has already sent a letter to Dr Edmonds. {as if it was days ago} I said well I wonder where the letter has got to....I havent received it yet and I'm copied into all correspondence. Well it went to him to be signed about 30mins ago.....talk about trying to fob you off. So if she dosnt ring by tomorrow lunchtime I'll be back on the phone to her and to Dr Edmonds secretary as well.
I'm sick of all of this. Not sleeping at night and I'm sure its stress thats making me waken and stay awake for about 3 hours....its not pain.
Sorry for this ramble
Love
Hileena

why do they fob you off if they said they not sure but will sort it you would not mind but to mess you about like this is not fare you would have thought he would have checked everything out before you got there valval0

Hi Hileena,
It does sound like you are being messed about at the minute so you are doing the right thing chasing it up. Some Drs /Consultants seem to put you in a box and forget about you.
I do hope your gallstones aren't causing a lot of pain but you do need to know what is happening. Hope you get the answer soon.

Hi Hileena, You are not
No wonder you are stressed, there is no need for them to fob you off and not tell you, its your body after all. This secretary sounda as if she is used to covering for the consult.
Do hope you get the results tommorrow .
Ramble as much as you need. Hpe it helps. Stress is a killer, it only makes everything worse in my opinion but also cant be helped.
Let us know how things go.
Take care and try to rest.

Oh Hileena, you have been messed about haven't you? it's not fair, why can't they just tell you the truth instead of fobbing you off. Ok if she hasn't seen him, fair enough, if he hasn't spoken to anyone, fair enough and if he doesn't have results/answers, fair enough, but just tell the truth then at least you will know where you are. Stress could be keeping you awake and can make pain worse. Last Tuesday night I had the worst pain for a long time and couldn't sleep was up at 5.30, but had had astressful day, been much better since, coincidence? I don't think so. Keep pestering them till you get answers it's the least you deserve. I'm hoping you will get it sorted soon, sending good vibes and a (),

Hi, Val, Vonski, Claire and Sue
Thank you so much for your support.
You are so right ...stress does make things so much worse.
I dont know why i cant get a stgraight anser from any of them.....this has been going on for 6 months now....Bad enough having OA and scoliosis without going through all this and been pushed from pillar to post.
If they said they didnt know but would find out....or something like that
I would accept it. But this ignoring me......I detest...I will not be ignored
I will ring tomorrow.....its not as much gall bladder pain as constant nausea and not being able to eat......I'm living on rice pudding and cupa soup an things like that....its all I can get down.
This secretary does seem like a lot of them....used to covering for the boss ...you are right there.
Oh well I'll try tomorrow afternoon if I havent heard by then
Love

Oh dear, this is not good enough, is it? Give yourself a break from it for a couple of days, hileena, this is not worth all the extra stress and hassle. Ring 'em again on Friday (if no letter has turned up by then) - if they still cannot give you a straight answer then let them you know you will be contacting the higher authorities with a complaint. That will make a letter come through! Take care. DD
PS. Rice pudding and cuppa soup? It doesn't sound like a good diet but I reckon it's giving you salt and sugar, both are essential.Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
Hi Hileena
This is just not on...talk about dragging something out...you get on to them..and I know you will...but some people dont like phoning them...and this is what they count on...so hopefully you will have some news very soon..and some help.Love

Hope you get some answers today luvie..
You keep strong your doing a great job..let us know how you get on..xxxTracyxx0 -
Dear Hileena
This has been going on for far too long. Stress most certainly aggravates symptoms. You are strong in temperament thank goodness. You should not have to, but keep on at "them". It is awful that they are dilly dallying over your health issues.
I do hope you get a few steps forward in this nightmare, today.
Hugs

Hi Hileena
All this stress you are having I can quite relate to. I just wish people would be straight with you and not make promises they can not keep.
Trying to get answers is like trying to get blood from a stone, all they do is fob you off. All the while we are just sat waiting or worrying about results, It is just not fair.
I am still waiting and fretting over my op date, which I also can not get any answer.
I hope you have better luck this afternoon
Take care

Hi
I've been out all morning and come back expecting there to have been a call. Peter was in.....but no...nothing.
I have tried her but just got her answerphone. I didnt leave a message...bit pointless I think doubt that she would ring me. I'll ring before I go out again.....its one of those days
I think I will also ring the generalist {Dr Edmonds} sec and see if she knows anything.
Havent spoken to her.

Hi Hileena,
Did you really think there would have been a call? You make a nuisance of yourself, let as many people know that you are not happy with the situation you find yourself in and quite rightly so.
As I have said before, thank goodness you are not a shrinking violet because you have had to be doing far too much chasing up. Hope you speak/hear something later on in this afternoon.

I've no advice, Hileena, because I can identify both with those who say pester them into action and also with DD who said take a break from it. Pointless to say don't get stressed also as, of course, you will. I would. You must do or not do, whatever you feel best. I hope you soon feel better in yourself. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hi Elna and Sticky
Well....no I didnt expect a reply but I live in hope
I rang her at 2pm before I went out and got her. All I got out of her was that "I sent him an e.mail last night" cant do any more.
I couldnt resist it.....I asked her Have you checked if there is a reply from him? Ohhhhh!!!!!!! duhh!!!!! she went away and when se came back said that yes there is a reply....He is going to send you for a CT scan at Wansbeck hospital......{miles away} but thats not the end of the world i suppose......So here we go....waiting again for this appointment :x
I also rang Dr Edmonds Secretary {the generalist} and put her in the loop[ and told her I wasnt happy at all. So have left that with her....dont expect to hear from her but expect to hear from Bagwat about this CT soon

 Oh Hileena, you are getting good at doing these people's work for them, aren't you? I am sure I would not have been as quick thinking as you, in replying have you received a reply yet from the email you sent him?. Goodness, and she told you to hang on, whilst she had a look!! Defies belief!
You have had so much experience dealing with these people you are so quick with your retorts. She was probably so taken aback that she showed herself up at not keeping a check, on incoming mail.
You most certainly get top marks for dealing with these people. Wish you could give them top marks with giving you answers, I really do.

Hileena, you should give lessons on dealing with these people. You're our resident expert. Well done!If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Oh Elna and Sticky.
Not sure about all that ...thanks anyway
Its just I'm one of those people that cant let things go....cant just sit and wait if they have said I'll hear earlier.
Like a dog with a bone
I would probably be better if i was more laid back and relaxed and just waited

Hi Heleena- please bear with me as using my iPhone in resteraunt in hotel with hundreds of stairs, no lift and monk like bedroom with no bedside light!
I just ate a meal that I did wonder, before I read your post, would give me gallstone jip later as it included hand made chips and spinnach sauce with cream in it - but baked fish with spinach looked the safest option for a starving travel fatigued me - might have guessed they would shove in cream?!
So sorry but I haven't full story on your gallbladder prob so will just tell you my story briefly in hope it will help? My sis has just told me, in big drama as typical of her as she us bit of a hypo - that she has enormous gallstones and is in a panic. To be fair she is also profoundly deaf so it's not always easy for her to comprehend what she's being told.
So by text I explained that after a bout of v bad abdominal pain about ten years ago and a scan I learnt that I had a few enormous stones and many smaller ones. The scanner told me that it was the smaller ones that would play havoc - and for a while they did! Ive been days away from having the op twice and then lost my nerve and pulled out. Last time was about 8 years ago. Since then I have always tried to eat early (aprox 6pm) and avoid fatty food. When it has kicked off I generally take ibuprofen and drink loads of water and it's died down after a bad night perhaps. The pain is so particular and high up I always know what it is.
Now since all this arther kicked off last winter and with the threat of family diabetes hanging over me I decided to quit gluten (wheat) and see how I fared. I've dieted many times before and got nowhere but somehow - with threat of diabetes and RA hovvering I meant business. The joint pain and medicines were so horrid that I lost my appettite (never happened to me before!) and I lost 2 stone quite easily. But what I noticed was that all previous IBS/ gallbladdersymptoms went with the gluten free diet?
Now it's been 9 months since I quit gluten and I've also quit dairy and caffeine and sugar (oh heck now had sorbet so I'll probably regret saying this like hell!) but no gallstone, no wind/IBS and the weight is coming off (until I got to this blasted hotel anyhow!) and apart from chronic joint pain I feel much better. So might be worth addressing through food elimination if you haven't already tried?
Good luck with sorting out this dumb-ar*e doctor. Secretary probably schooled in the art of diversion and excuses while he dines out and gives her hell if she veers towards honesty with desperate patients?! Mat xIf you get lemons, make lemonade0 -
Hi Mat
Thank for your reply.
It seems your new diet is doing you a lot of good....thats fantatstic.
Mine is a weird story {Apart from having OA, kyphoscoliosis and Epilepsy}
I had what was diagnosed as a sprained Sacro Illiac Joint, then it was a fractured pelvis then a fractured sacro illiac joint as well  From GP to consultant , and cosultant and consultant
Scans, Dexa scan, Radioactive Scan {bones} MRI for gallbaldder I'm sure others that I've forgotten....Oh yes...gastro dept and the camera.....both ends......sorry......buit graphic. This has gone on for 6 months now.
Recently I've lost my appetite and and nauseaus most days......they seem to think that the common bile duct is blocked with gallstone. Thats the latest except when I nagged the secretary she found hout he was REFERRING {not REFERRED} me for a CT scan so here we go waiting again.

MORE NEWS LOL
Just to confuse everything....I got a letter from the hospital...assumed it was from you know who but no.
It was from Mr Asaad. Remember my lovely ortho consultant when I got my first hip done?????
OK it didnt work out very well but was one of those things.....slightly less mobile than before it was done.
To my knowledge you dont see orthos on a regualr basis...well I dont. Just after surgery and its 1 year and 8 months....will be 1 yr and 10 months when I go for the appt. since my first THR.
I think I will ring his secretary after lunchtime....not to fight
Just to find out if she has any idea why he wants to see me......I wonder is it for my 2nd THR which should have been 1 yr ago. I'm not sure that I want it and would like time to think before I see him.
Hopefully before I see him {2nd Dec} I will be further forward than I am now
Love
Hileena0 -
I hope you receive an answer, I take it it was just an appointment letter with no other info? That does seem odd for an ortho, let us know what you find out, please! DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi DD
Well I've just rung his secretary and she hasnt got my notes but I could hear her clicking away on the computer....she said the only thing I can find that might be the reason is that you were having physio....i said yes quiet some time ago.....thats the only guess I can make at it she said as to why he might want to see you????
Oh well....I'll forget about him until closer to the time
Love
Hileena0 -
This probably won't be much help, Hileena, but my orthopaedic surgeon sees me regularly, though not often. Having said that, he's responsible for a fair few bits of me.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.
Steven Wright0 -
Thanks Sticky
Secretary is probably right.....I was having acupuncture and ortho said he wanted me to have physio as well.......thats bout the time the acupuncture was stopped and the physio never got started
I'm not really concerned about him.....I'll make notes between now and beginning of Dec about joint pain....meantime its the unknown I'll think about.....CT scan .....sometime?????

hi hileena
I had no symptoms that indicated gallstones. It was all put down to the arther meds upsetting the stomach.
I had a sudden onset of pain worse than anything I have ever experienced without exception ......and pop! my gallbladder burst (a serious condition but very rare) and major surgery was done 10 days in hosp 5 months off work.
I was misdiagnosed and therefore the delay was nearly disastrous.
If you have even a hint there is a problem do take the surgery option because it will be keyhole and rather quick recovery.
Following my recovery my stomach problems disappeared and life was much better... one painful condition is quite enough for a body to cope with...get rid of the other and don't be fobbed off., keep pushing for the info, I wish I had known!
Appetite better nausea gone.
Good luck ( just need courage to go for my own hand surgery now)0
