    Hi again, Dave,

I have already replied to you on the other zone. I am sure that now you have posted here, you will get others members replying. You are not alone in feeling like you do regarding some gps and their attitude to those with OA.

    Look after yourself,

    Hi Dave
There are quite a few of us on here that have felt the same, its seems to be if you have arthur then all they can do is give pain killers, but its wrong, I think it is bad enough having to go to your GP without being treated like this, soon after I joined this forum I got a new GP that is very understanding.
So you go and make yourself heard , not easy I know, but I do hope you get listened to at the very least.
    You take care
    Love

No worries, Dave, next time you go to an appointment, make a list of things that you wish to ask and if at this one you still feel that this doc is not taking enough time and interest, please find another one that will. They are around.

I hope your weekend goes well, do keep in touch, it does help to know there is somewhere you can go and be with others that do understand what you are going through and to give you encouragement and support.

    Hi Dave,
Welcome......sorry dont think i've heard from you before.
I had a doc like that and I eventually changed and what a difference.
With OA I dont think there is a lot they can do except pain killers, anti inflammatories, or possibly surgery. The usual slef help methods we use
Have you been referred to a rheumatologist? if not ask.... to be. Think about changing your doc as well.
The other thing is you can ask to go to a pain clinic and see what they suggest

    Hi Fulton

when did you last get those feet xrayed l wonder?? the good foot is causing you problems too? Might, of course be, because you are favouring it to protect the other one.

Elna's advice is sound - a list and someone to go with you too to back you up and make you feel stronger.

If it's any consolation l reckon a lot of us feel the same

    Love

    Toni xx

thanks guys! Yesterday my good foot was worse than my bad one! it hurt just so much just putting a sock on it, let alone walking! Plus my arches are falling in my feet aswell! When i asked a bout a blue badge the dr said well its more political than medical these days! if i walk more than 100 meters with out an aid or stopping then im fit even if every step hurts! Just dont figure!

    Hi
Would you not try applying for a badge anyway :?: .....they can only say no and if you think you need it ....and you sound as if you do.....ask and see. I didnt need my docs permission......dont know if authorities differ very much. We have council offices not far away and I just went to them, they gave me a form, I fiilled it in, took it back and waited, and waited and waited  but eventually it did come

Hi Dave, Welcome and I'm sorry you feel you don't have a good relationship with your doctor. If I where you I would change your GP till you find someone who you feel you can open up to and feel comfortable with. I'm lucky to have a great relationship with my doctor and she understands me. I can talk to her and open up to her 100% I have never felt so comfortable with a doctor before. I'm so lucky.

Hi Dave.. The others have pretty much said it already matey, change doctors, I understand that they are limited, especially if it is OA but this doctor doesn't seen too interested. I would change as soon as possible Rkid..
Have you ever been referred to a specialist? I think that's what I woods push for matey.

Best of luck, I think there have been so many of us with GPs like that, myself included.. I changed mine recently, best thing I could have done.

Keep us up to date and look after yourself.

    Hi Dave
    Have you had any physio?
I know when I had a fractured pelvis as well as everything else......I could hardly move...I wasnt having physio but had had it at one time so I rang the physio dept and asked for crutchs and got them
The OT cant give them out without the physions say so but physio can give them out.
Its worth a try ...Like I said about the blue badge they can only say no
All areas will differ but if you havent a good relationship with your GP what have you got to lose by trying it?
    Love

Do you always take the paindullers with food, Fulton? It helps with the sickness. You may need a stomach protector too such as Lansoprazole or Omeprazole.

I hope the physio will help strengthen your muscles so that they are better able to supprt your joints.

Don't write off the physio before you've tried it, Fulton. Just because it all started with a break, some years ago, doesn't mean to say that's how it's stayed. A good physio can help a lot and keeping the muscles strong will support your joints and reduce the pain. I do wonder, though, if an orthotist might be able to help you.

Hello Sounds like you've go an awful doc. Maybe hes practicing for a job at ARTOS!

You need to change your doctor by the sound of it, I know its not nice but sometimes its the only thing to do.

I find it very frustrating because I want to know how I can keep active, but I can't do the stuff I've done all my life anymore like boxing training which I really miss.

There are lots of things we can - and must - do to keep active. If you put 'exercise' into the little pink search engine box above lots of stuff comes up on the left of the page.

Unfortunately, we all have to keep giving up things we enjoy because of the arthritis so it becomes even more important to take on other things instead. There's plenty to choose from. I hope you'll find something that suits you.
