Richard has just rung me - she is home, tucked up in her own bed, tired, sore, but HOME. She is not eating very much, due to soreness, but I am sure that will ease as she heals. Anyhoo, she's home. I am a very happy DD!Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Aw, it is good news that our Julie is safely home. I am sorry that she cannot eat much. Julie was warned she may well feel sore but that will soon go. Did not stop me eating though. I am wondering if it has stopped her talking much for a while too. x;)
Do send her my love and the worst is over now.

Just cant believe the speed of that, it seems incredible.

Nice to hear your home, nothing better than your own home,
You take care, wishing you a speedy recovery..xxxxTracyxx0 -
I am very pleased you can now relax in your own bed with the lovely Richard to minister to your every need.
One step at a time now. There's no rush for anything. Just recover as slowly as necessary.
Phew! I feel a lot better than this time yesterday. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

The phone just rang and it was Julie. Her throat is very, very painful, apparently the anaesthetist had a real battle with one or two tubes down her throat and she is battle-scarred from that, plus her lip has been torn. She went in at 1.10 and was woken up at 4pm. The first thing she did was to take off the oxygen mask and the nurses remonstrated so then she thought she would try to wiggle her toes to see if she could still move then realised that yes, of course she could! She is very hungry and the lovely Richard will be sent for soup, yoghurt and ice cream: she is also finding that two weeks meth free has restored some taste to things, which is an added bonus. She had a rough night last night as she could not get comfortable.
She sends love to all of you, she was able to read these messages last night but cannot reply as yet - though knowing her I bet it won't be too long before she's tap-tapping away.
Take care Julie, be a patient patient, OK? It's tough, I appreciate that, but soooooooo necessary! DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
Thanks DD but oh dear our Julie was not treated with TLC was she? Goodness, torn lip  They sure were on a roll with ops and getting patients out of that hospital. :!: I am wondering if Julie came out of the hospital wearing a soft or hard collar - I do hope that she has but Julie did say they never mentioned anything about going home in one.
Bless her, please send her my love and remind her to eat, drink and take it easy.

My apologies elna, I forgot that salient detail! She was sent home with a soft collar for the journey but I have to admit I don't know if she is still wearing it. I shall find out in due course. DD (who is a rather forgetful pigeon)Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

She's not wearing it. They only gave her it for the journey because she asked. It's not their normal policy, apparently. She has an excellent private nurse in her lovely husband so she will be well looked after but is finding it hard to get comfy right now.
Julie, please forgive us talking about you like this but you are, rightly, much loved on this forum and everyone wants to hear how you are. NO POSTING though! You are in quarantine. Any breaking of these rules and I shall tell Richard to remove the yoghour & soup and feed you crisps and nuts instead. You have been warned. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Dear Julie
I hope you are able to find ways to get comfortable. Personally, in the early days, I would have been lost without the collar. I found it very strange the first time I removed it when in bed but I did find it more comfortable without it, then. In the day, sitting in a chair, lying on the settee with my head on cushions, or very gently "creeping around pottering" I would not have been able to feel as comfortable without as with the collar.
I do hope that the soreness soon abates somewhat. It is of course very early days.
I am thinking of you pretty much all the time in between rushing around in the doom, gloom and rain.

Hi Julie,
Brilliant news that your operation is over, through the other side and at home.
Being sore and getting over it is a bit grim but you will get a little better each day. I hope you get comfortable soon. x:-D
I reckon you owe your surgeon/anaesthetist a fat lip in return for splitting yours  ............what did they want to do that for so near Christmas!!! If you need me to go and get them back just say the word I reckon I could summon up a small forum army willing to give me a hand!! x x x
Take care of yourself
