Hi everyone,
The funeral was fantastic - if funerals can be said to be. The minister was dad's personal friend, and a stirring speaker, and what he said was so very moving. The flowers were just amazing, 6 people stood up to give testimonials to him, including from 1 of the other churches denominations apart from that of Trevor the minister, while the minister from another read the lesson. People all loved mum's singing at the beginning and the end, the meal was enjoyed by all - Lasagne and garlic bread, because everyone likes that, and cranachan, a sort of Scottish trifle with whisky, in memory of the Burns Night dad organised at the home. The weather at the church in Wales was beautiful, and the family threw flowers in the grave, and both my grandchildren kissed their flower before putting it in, which was really touching. The whole thing lasted from 11ish for Ken and I, to 7.30 at night, so it was a long day, an hours travelling each way to the church where mum is buried....so we fed the undertakers people as well at lunchtime. They didn't ask, but I didn't want any of them passing out Dad was behind me all the way organising it. I am sure he even sorted the weather.
Talk soon,
Jeanxxx0
