    Hello Joan
Shingles is so painful. but I do know the sooner you take the medication the better it works..I havent had them but I know people that have....
I do hope your GP has given her the tablets to take, and I hope the pain eases very soon.

Oh no! Poor Sue, it matters not that this isn't arthritis related, we all kinda 'know' her and of course we are concerned. I haven't had it myself but I do know it can be exquisitely painful and I hope that she soon starts to feel better. If she is accepting hugs please pass one on (via mime so you don't get it) from me, together with my sincere best wishes for a speedy recovery. DD

Oh Joan, I’m so sorry. Poor Sue! As if she didn’t have enough on her plate. I know nothing about it except that it hurts. Please give Sue a few gentle cyber hugs from me and keep a few for yourself too. ((((()))))

    Hello Joan
I think it can last a few weeks, but Im sure it depends on how soon you take the medication, I do hope the pain eases very soon.

    Hi Joan

my Lucy had it at the ripe old age of 11!!

She has some antiviral meds from the doctor and it lasted about 12 days before the rash started to look healed over.

I hope she feels better very very soon, l am aware that some do get pain with it for a good while. Hope she is lucky like Lucy :)

    Love

My shingles started last March. My GP told me it would go in a few weeks.
It didn't. Even now I have a flare up and still have the scars. But the pain and itching came and went in spasms for many months. It's no joke.

Sue, it’s lovely to hear from you but I’m so sorry about the circumstances.

I don’t know anything about shingles either and I hope I don’t have to find out.

I’m glad the rash is not so bad but I can well imagine that you have no energy. I suggest you both take things as easy as you possibly can for the moment and I hope you feel better soon. ((((()))))

Sue my lovely, rest. Rest some more and when you've done that have another go at resting. I have not had shingles but I do know that it is VERY uncomfortable, VERY painful and SORE. I am sure you are doing what the docs have told you, I hope that the worse parts of it ease soon and that you and Joan have the bestest Easter you can currently manage. Hugs and love to you both. DD

my friend suffers with reacurring shingles, the length of time varies but i do know she puts bicarbonate of soda in her bath and bathes the area every day with it as it helps dry the rash up and ease it abit, works for chicken pox in children too,

plenty of rest and i hope it eases soon xxx

The only advice I can give is to use Sudacrem. I tried Calamine lotion as everyone else suggests, but that didn't help me much. Sudacrem seems to help more because it has antiseptic properties.

Joan and Sue, I just wanted to wish you both a Happy Easter despite the shingles, arthritis, osteoporosis and all the other rubbish life has thrown at you. I hope you both have an Easter egg and as painfree a time as possible.
