Heart scans tomorrow - any pocket dwellers available please?

Hello peeps
Although I do get nervous before hospital appts, I don't often find myself in the situation of being "properly frightened". But I have an appointment for mycocardial perfusion tests (heart scans) tomorrow and I am not a happy bunny.
Apparently what they will do is to stress my heart with drugs, inject me with radioactive dye and carry out scans to see what is going on inside my heart. Not worried about the dye bit cos I have had that recently with lung scans and, although it is not particularly pleasant, it wasn't too bad. But what is frightening me this time is the bit about stressing my heart. Apparently they will inject me with the drug to stress my heart, inject me with the dye and then send me away for between 30 mins and an hour to give the dye time to act and then I will have the scan. They will then do the same thing again later on, without stressing my heart.
In addition I am not allowed to take my beta blocker today and I know that when that wears off my heart rate and heart rythym will be all over the place and I find that frightening in itself. And I can't even have my usual "props" of tea and chocolate today cos I have to be "caffeine free" for 24 hours before the appointment.
Given recent experiences, I am also worried about if/how I am going to get to the appointment given my ongoing stomach "issues". Appt is at 9am so I will need to be up at 4am, to be able to leave at 7am.
So if anyone is available for pocket duties and calming vibes it would be much appreciated (and if anyone else has had one of these scans and can tell me anything which might help to set my mind at rest I would be very grateful).
Thanks!
Tillyxxx

Dear Tilly, that doesn't sound at all pleasant! I'm afraid I can't offer you any real help or advice, but I will be in your pocket and holding your hand.
Thinking of you, fondest wishes,
Numpty0 -
Oh Tilly, I've never done it but I don't think you'll need the thing to stress your heart because it looks like the 24 hours preceeding it will be stressful enough.
I'm sure it's all routine, I'm sure they do this test to people who are less fit than you and I'm sure you'll be in exactly the right place in the most unlikely event of anything going belly up. (I'm also sure I'd rather you than me  )
I'll definitely be there. ((()))If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Of course I'll be there, I won't bring the fizz however, will filtered water do? I'll add extra thick double cream to the strawberries by way of compensation (and just to clog those arteries a little more ). I will be thinking of you from 4am onwards (I'm usually awake then) and will send all the positive vibes I can muster. It will all be well, tillytillytillytop, it will. ((((())))) xx DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

hi hun.
I think the drug they use is called adenoside or similar. I had two of them back in 2004, Janet has a had a couple of them as well. They're not the most pleasant of things but they really do look after you whilst having it done. I'm sure you'll be alright luv. And you can certainly count me in along with Ra for pocket duties
Best wishes mi dear

Hi Tilly
I'll be in your pocket but just in the corner and very quiet as I'm sick of hospitals.
Please be aware that although this procedure isn't very pleasant for you you are in the right place and nothing untoward will go wrong.
Many of these tests are carried out by very experienced staff who do know what they are doing.
((((((()))))) Hugs for you......you will be ok. May0 -
Will be thinking about you and sending positive thoughts-hope all goes well!!!

As always, thanks so much for your support.

Tilly, sorry I am late to this. I will be with in spirit and Izzy sends a nuzzle. I know heart stuff is worrying, I haven't had this specific test, but have had others. You are in the best place. BIG (((hugs)))

Tilly
I may have had this test.... called a radioactive 'stress test' because we can't go on treadmills?
Ok I was supposed to eat a light breakie.....then they injected something and I had to go eat fatty food lots of it and they scanned me afterwards.
I do remember feeling very flushed when they injected whatever it was Tilly that's all.
Also that the scan was like MRI no UNDERWIRED bras!
and when they said no caffiene they meant NONE not even decaf tea. (Guess who had to go twice because of this  )
Of course I will be right there with you as will Daisycat
Love and hugs

Hi Tilly - I'm afraid I can't be of any help to you, but I just wanted to say good luck and I will be thinking of you. However scared you are, just believe they know what they are doing.
Best wishes, Susie0 -

Thanks so much all.
Well I'm up and so far so good so I reckon I will be able to go.
Bit worried about what you said about the decaff tea tho Toni cos I have just had a cup of that this morning thinking it would be ok. Maybe I just won't tell them cos I can't go through all this again.
Thanks all for being there for me.
