I've just heard that they are stuck in traffic but she hopes to be able to get there on time. DD

Morning Tilly. I’m just trying to get there in time, too. I do hope all goes well and smoothly and not too scarily.

And, for the record, redbush – or rooibos – tea contains no caffeine and much reduced tannins. It’s the only ‘proper’ tea I can drink when my stomach’s playing up. Not quite the same as your normal cuppa but all that different.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

I've heard that the first bit has been done and she is now sitting there, gently glowing with radioactivity and waiting for the first scan. She thanks us all for keeping her calm - she can 'feel' our presence! She's hopeful that the worst bit is over. DD

Thank you all so much for being in my pocket - it helped no end and I'm sure the radiographer chappie could hear you all cos he kept giving me very funny looks

Thanks too to DD for playing pigeon.

We did get there on time thankfully and although it wasn't the most pleasant experience it wasn't as bad as I had feared and I was very well looked after.

Although I won't get the results for a while, I was told that, although they have to review the scans in more detail, he didn't think there was anything much to worry about which is a great relief.

Thank you all for being there for me.

    Love Tillyxx

Glad it seemed to go alright, great news from what the radiographer said, we can all relax alittle now! You go and put your feet up for the rest of the day as a reward for getting through the scan and getting the pretty good news!!

Thanks again peeps for your support. And sorry Sticky, forgot to say yesterday thank you for the tip about redbush tea. I will bear that in mind for another time if I have to avoid caffeine for an appointment.

I am definitely feeling a huge relief that it is over with and that is "it" for the time being in terms of tests and investigations thank goodness.

What did make me chuckle yesterday though was the total lack of understanding of my current physical limitations. I could chuckle about it because the nurse and doctor were so very kind but when I walked in on my crutches and the nurse suggested I could perhaps do some "gentle treadmill" exercise I think the look on my face said it all! She asked "what I had" and I said RA and she did ask me about it - "is it painful?" for example. But when she was trying to put a cannula into my hand she bent my wrist over quite hard and I think I must have winced and she apologised profusely and then asked "what, does even doing just that hurt you?" Then the doctor came in and asked about exercise and when I explained he said "well can't you just lift your arms up and over your head a few times?" It actually didn't matter one bit because they were both so nice and there was absolutely no problem when I said that I couldn't do the exercise but it was just the total lack of comprehension.

Thanks again for all your support and kindness.

can sense the relief in your posts now that its all over.
your story too about the medical people is really quite funny and which is one of the reasons i keep banging on about better public info about RA - people just dont have a clue. i had a blood taken and as ive got the dodgy nerve running down my arm it took a bit of explaining why the pressure of the needle was so painful. we need to be treated gently us folks with RA

hope the tests all come back with the results you want them too and the rest of your week is blissfully peaceful and pain free now you got that freaky process over and done with.

    Hi Tilly,

I'm so sorry I haven't been around for pocket duties during the past few days, as I'd have jumped straight in for this one!

It's good to know that the procedure wasn't as bad as you'd feared and I hope the results are all good.

As to lack of understanding… honestly, so much empathy (from me, that is!) that all I can do is laugh along with you, in a slightly hysterical manner! But I suppose every time this happens to one of us we’re helping to educate the health system and perhaps at some stage they’ll wise up a bit

    Best wishes,
    Phoebe

    Well done you Tilly :D

Glad it is all done and dusted and fingers crossed for a good outcome.

Let's hope your tolerant understanding of their not understanding the RA will help educate them for any future people eh?

    Love and hugs

Hey Tilly, I'm glad that it's over now and you can sit back and put the worry behind you. It just show's what doctor's & nurses really know by what happened with you! It makes me wonder sometimes what knowledge of their patients they really have, or do they wing it though appt's!!
