PET HATES OR DISLIKES
Comments

A pet hate is litter. Not just the sweet wrappers strewn up and down our road -my neighbours put their rubbish out overnight and every week a fox rips open the bags and the crisp packets and dirty wipes always blows into our garden. We have a litter picker upper but he just picks up a few bits and bobs and leaves the rest.
My children use the desk tops and the floor for their litter.
OH buying oranges and mushrooms every week when they always end up in the bin.
I've told them all but will they listen?

Another couple of strong dislikes:
Calling arthrits 'arthur' - it does not merit being anthropomorphised.
People who make mountains out of molehills. Surely it's better to try to make a molehills out of mountains. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
dreamdaisy wrote:Fowls, the plughole thing is easily sorted - insert a sink strainer. OK, you have to be there clearing the draining water with a teaspoon or summat to help it drain away but the 'solids' are left and easily cleared. I've always used one to ensure that Mr DD doesn't have to clear a blocked sink. As for the shift thing I phrased it badly. What I should have put was:
I dislike the habit of not using the shift key for 'I' but using it for other proper and Common nouns.
Right, another dislike. Needing the lights on at 9am in JULY. :x DD
The sink thing 2 kids plus Mr fowls , NO CONTEST i lose everytimeMr Fowls is very good at blocking them up

I have to own up to calling arthritis, 'arfur' only because I HATE the word so much
Pet hates, people on scooters who go too fast on the pavement and nearly knock me over on my crutches
The way the adverts on TV are louder than the programme and that they are that long, you forget what you are watching!!
People in shops who expect me to move out of their way, when they can walk and I only barely can. ( I have a walkerand it is not a fashion accessory )
Shops that are so hot you nearly pass out.
I could go on and on  arthritis makes me a grumpy miserable person I am afraid. :roll:0 -
I'm biased. My beloved Pa was an Arthur, of the proper type. Tall, learnéd, a real gentleman. To abbreviate this dross to such a noble name is abysmal, but that is a very personal view. To clarify, I DO NOT dislike those who do it ( I understand - sorry - i understand
-why you do. ) it's just the term. The only time I used it was in The Arthritic's Prayer and only because it fitted:
My Arthur,
Thou art a devil
Damnéd be thy name
etc etc etc

DD, you had a Pa, very posh. I think this may elevate your forum status0

Far from it, it was an affectionate term but as he's ten years dead I guess it's time to stop using it. I apologise for allowing sentiment to intrude on weighty matters. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Ohh DD I have read this, this morning and now understand. I am so so sorry, I did not mean to cause offence
Please accept my apologies.0 -
Now you all know why I rarely wander onto chit chat. I always seem tomake mistakes on here. :oops:0

I actually thought you mean P.A as in personal assistant. Then when I read my message back I realised it sounded as though I had mocked you, when it was the furthest thing from my mind. I can see how it looks though. Sorry.
I think I shall ban myself from the forum, cant seem to get anything right lately :oops:0 -
Don't be daft. I was too hasty in my reply and I apologise. I would abbreviate personal assistant to PA (P.A. to be really correct!) but now I see what you were meaning. Anyhoo, it matters not, let's 'kiss and make up' yes? I'm too fond of you to fall out over something so silly.

When I was back in middle school, we had an old grumpy science teacher. For some reason, in one science lesson, he talked about arthritis, but a lot of us, never having really heard of the word before as we were kids, called it "arthuritus".
He used to snap his ruler on the table and ask the student who said it wrong who Arthur Writus was. One student (who was always quick on his feet) replied that he was the man who invented writing and made a big background story about him!
The grumpy science teacher tried his best to stay firm, but he was intruiged by what was to be said about Arthur Writus. When the boy was finished we were all sure it was detention for him, until we noticed that the teacher could not actually keep a straight face. Ever tried giving a detention when your trying not to laugh? That was an F for the teacher!Life is just a ride. Up and down, round and around, thrills and chills, very brightly coloured and very loud. But don't ever be afraid, because it is just a ride.0 -
DD, am so relieved, thank you. I would hate to upset anyone, let alone someone who has been very kind to me0

Mamasmurf! I LOVE it!
Oh jillyb1, how lovely! Mama, Papa and Betseysmurf. (surely she is?) That's gorgeous.
Another dislike: people who stand watching their stuff go through the till, THEN dig out the means of payment, dither about cash back, sort that THEN start packing. WHY? WHY? If you're paying by card think about cashback whilst queueing, pack, pay, step away from the till THEN check the bill and trot off to customer services if summat is wrong. Ye gods. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
Visions of DD in menacing voice , " STEP AWAY FROM THE TILL ! " ! Jillyb0
