Just had Ian's Mum round after her hospital visit.............she's seen the consultant today........its not good news...........because dad had a massive stroke and also has alzheimers, there isnt a lot they can do for him...........the alzheimers will prevent him recovering from the stroke.............he also has a collapsed lung........and is not able to eat or drink..........he's on pain relief and that is it.......with a note on his file to say Do Not Resuscitate..............so basically they are making him comfortable, but basically, he wont ever come home :-(0

Oh Julia
Oh my goodness! I'm so so sorry to hear these bad news. I hope your other half will be able to go see him even if his fears have now been confirmed.
Spending time with his dad will be good. I hope you all stay strong and will be comforted that they are giving him painkillers so is hopefully not feeling the pain.
My thought are with you and Fluffy.
I am sending you big cotton (((())))

well,am gobsmacked..........apparently the physios are happy with dad........they have been working with him to try to clear his chest......so they might be able to get a feeding tube in!
seems very strange to me seeing as last Monday the consultant said there was nothing else they could do for him due to all his health issues and the dementia, so all they could offer was palliative care..........but we live in hope!
many thanks again guys for all your support........i really do, sincerely appreciate it more than you know xxxx0 -
Julia
Wow thats a turn up for the books isnt it and isnt the human body an amazing thing?...This should at least lift your oh's spirits a wee bit, its not permanent but its an improvement...
Great to hear...

Hi Julia
I'm so pleased about the new developments. Has Fluffy been to see his dad yet?
I hope your FIL improves more. Is your appointment still on? I hope it is though for your own health to improve.
Thinking of you.

Hi Babs
No.........Fluffy still hasn't been to visit! Not sure what he will do going forwards as this situation isn't going to go backwards! I believe long term that FIL will go to a nursing home as its too much for Mum to cope with at home.
Yes, my Op is still on for Tuesday........I did consider postponing , but thought better of it and considered what's right for me in the long run!
thanks again for asking xx0 -
Will be in your pocket on Tuesday hope all goes well.Mig0

That operation is for your own good Julia. I know I may sound bad so I apologise in advance if you don't like this.
If your FIL will be going to a care home then there is nothing you can do for him sorry. Going ahead with your scheduled aperation is going to help you a lot.
Let'shope Fluffy will accept what is happening and go visit his dad.
I'll be available for pocket duties on tuesday. Wishing you all the best for your operation.

Hi - I just want to say how sorry I am for what you have been going through. I do hope all goes well with your operation next week (and this makes me feel rather foolish, but I'm afraid I have no idea what is meant by "a spare spoon". Perhaps someone would be kind enough to explain. Sorry). Nonetheless, I send good luck and best wishes your way.

and once again, thanks guys for the support......all spoons well and truly used up :-(
an update on FIL
he is not responsive any longer, and has refused feeding tubes & physio, his notes say DNR
the hospital have moved him into a side room, and he is receiving palliative care only, with no idea of timescales, we are just sitting by the phone waitimg for the call

After last week's boogaloo session I have spent the weekend working away in my forge (bed) making a new batch of shiny shiny spoons (sleeping). They come in all shapes and sizes so I am sending you a whole drawful to help. I am also sending lots of love, hugs and smiles to see if they help with the spoon rations. LV xxHey little fighter, things will get brighter0
