Thanks all, I am now confined to the sofa with a hot water bottle and orders not to move from hubby. He hadn't realised how rough I was feeling. I am slightly more comfortable. Mostly it is a huge relief that I can properly rest now he understands how bad I am.

It is hard to rest, when you have a family. However I feel so poorly and am a bit worried. If it doesn't improve then I will contact a doc. I have upped my gabapentin to see if it does the trick.

It was so nice to log on and see your support. It is really lovely.

    Thank you all.

Oh so sorry suzygirl. I was going to suggest the gaba but am too late. Have you got anything to help you sleep so that you can get some rest? That is the only way I ever deal with nerve pain tbh.

I'm glad you're resting and Mr SG is fully clued up as to the situation. Sometimes it has to be spelled out to these blokes but they come up trumps when it is.

You are right. It is hard to rest when you have a family but, for the family's sake, as well as your own, it sometimes has to be done and they don't suffer one bit.

I hope you can get some sleep tonight, Suzygirl, and stuff feels better in the morning. If not, please don't just soldier on. Call in the cavalry.

Hi all, I have to confess I am a bit of an idiot  I had a water infection which I forgot about, (as you do ) which has now caused kidney pain etc. I have a sneaky suspicion that is the problem.

I have gone to sons footie today, away match. Very tense but they lost. Came home and had asleep. Planning on calling gp tomorrow.

Don't let me chicken out. I am a bit naughty when it comes to going to gps, I tend to make excuses. The hospital had said to contact the gp re water infection when I had the injections but I forgot.

Thanks for the support all, but especially Sticky :D

I am amazed they did your injections with a water infection. I had my first injections delayed becuase my thumb nail had come off and I had an infection in it. Just in my thumb! I was told no way with an infection. Please get to the docs asap - steroids reduce the immune response so its no surprise you are suffering with it. I don't mean to be alarmist - just worried for you.

Hope you feel somewhat better soon. Poor you. What a lot going on. ((()))

    RING THE GP NOW

Don't worry, Suzygirl. We all do the dozy wassock thing from time to time. Pain clouds the brain, or so I tell myself (when in a poetic mood  ) Definitely see the GP though. Please.

It appears I have a kidney infection. The awful back pain is kidney pain  I had no idea where the kidneys were!!

So, hopefully after the antib's kick in, I will feel much better and then be able to decide what is wrong with my legs and nerves.

Thanks for putting up with me   Have driven hubby crazy

Now resting with a comforting hot water bottle and the fan for the sweats

Well done! That's good news of a sort, isn't it, in that you now know what's wrong and have the remedy - we hope. With a bit of luck, the legs will be much improved too. Keep on resting though, Suzygirl

Oh Suzy, that is so not what you need at the moment. I am so sorry. The kidneys are rather high up one's back - higher than one might think! I hope the anti-bios work sooner rather than later. Take care. DD

I felt better for a bout a day after taking the antib's for a couple of days. Today I woke up to a temp of 38.6, shivering, chills and general flu like symptoms with the back pain back again.

Called the on call doc after I got past a very dragon like receptionist, who forgot me so I have to wait till tomorrow to be seen. Only problem is she said, definite kidney infection due to symptoms but urine sample clear. Not sure what that means?

Resting in bed finally, yes I feel that rough. Takes a lot to get me confined to bed.

That doesn't sound good - at least you are doing the right thing by staying in bed. Take care and I hope you can get this sorted out soon. DD

I think the symptoms you describe are normal for a kidney infection, Suzygirl. This doesn’t mean they’re at all pleasant but I think you’re doing the right thing. Rest up, keep warm, keep taking the antibios. I hope there’s better news tomorrow.

Just got back from the docs. It is polynephritis or something. We chatted over hospital and IV antibiotics. So I am at home  with a stronger antibiotic, rest and plenty of fluids. Any probs to ring again. Kidneys leaking blood and protein.

Am about to send poor hubby of on a barley water hunt down. A friend reminded me it is good for kidneys. I hate cranberry juice and I am diabetic anyway. I drank barley water when I was pregnant with my youngest and had kidney trouble.

Thanks for listening, appreciate the support as always. :D

    Hi Suzy

Sorry I haven't popped in for a couple of days on your thread.
I hope that the extra strong anti bios help along with a good rest and that you start to feel better soon.

    Take care

I think polynephritis is med speak for kidney infection. I'm glad they've upgraded your antibios, Suzygirl, and I hope that that, plus the barley water, will help and quickly at that.
