Please don't take any chances,Suzygirl. If it's no better tomorrow call the doc. (())If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hi Suzy,
Oh flower I just hope you will soon feel so much better and leaving you a (((((((((((((((((((( ))))))))))))))))))) and so many hopes as well as a special sachet for my purry furry friend. Everything crossed you will soon be much better. Cris xx0 -
After advice from you experienced people. My cold is worse today and my temp higher. My throat is so painful to swallow you have to raise your shoulders, it just looks red no tonsilitis. Just decided to try a cold & flu capsule.
How long before I call the doc again? Still on antib for my kidney infection and they are strong ones. I haven't called as I am sure the doc will want to send me for bloods & I don't feel well enough.
Any thoughts or remedies?0 -
Hi suzygirl,
I'm afraid that my previous advice still stands - I think maybe you should be in hospital. I know that you don't want to be but it does sound like your infection isn't clearing with the oral antibiotics.
As far as the cold goes - I gargle soluble asprin, it really works to numb the throat. Be careful with the cold and flu capsule - remember to count up your daily paracetamol allowance. Also, if you do gargle the asprin check with your pharmacist that you aren't overdoing the NSAIDs. I think those sprays work quite well too.
My infection in my back went undiagnosed for over a year because I was so stoic that apparently I wasn't in "enough" pain. Please don't try and man up to get through this, it really isn't worth it. I took really strong oral antibiotics loads of times but in the end it had to be a hospital job.
I am sorry if I sound like I am nagging you. I really aren't, I am just super worried.

You could always try out the old fashion remedies! Honey & hot lemon, chicken soup and lots of sleep. The old saying 'feed a cold & starve a fever'! Be looked after and rest up nice and warm. Hope it shifts soon having this on top of everything else! I really feel for you hun. Get well soon. (((HUGS)))0

Thanks Frogmella and Bubba, I have got some throat numbing lozenges from the pharmacist. If no better by Monday I will go back to docs.0

I've been away so not noticed Suzygirl's absence until now. I, too, am a little nattered as she is not one to put up a thread and then ignore it.
I rather hope your absence, Suzygirl, is due to hospitalisation as it seemed to me that that was what was required to get this infection properly under control. I hope you will soon be well enough to post again. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hi all, sorry to have been absent. I have been so poorly and unable to follow the forum properly. I have logged on occasionally but not well enough to post.
I caught the virus doing the rounds and it hit me like proper flu, high temp, sore throat, fevers, chills, sickness and diarrohea, sinus infection, lost my voice, breathless, chest pain from coughing and severe exhaustion and weakness. I am just after 2 weeks starting to have no high temp for a few hours at a time.
Its the worst I have been for ages, and I am still recovering. I hope no one else gets it. However it has frightened me a little regarding infections and immunosuppression.
My kidneys appear to be ok and I am hoping to have a 'normal' time for a few weeks now. I do have a dilemma though, I am supposed to be going to a party tomorrow with lots of children and I am contemplating not going in case I catch anything. I couldn't face another bug so soon. I have only left the house once in 2 weeks and that was to my sons footie in the fresh air and well wrapped up.
Am I being silly? What would you do?
P.s Frogmella,sorry to worry you.
Sticky,I hope you had a good time away.0 -
It's good to see you posting again, Suzygirl, but you were quite right to stay away. You had plenty to deal with and that had to be your priority. I am told there are some nasty bugs doing the rounds ie nasty even for 'well' people so those of us on immuno-suppresants will do well to steer clear as far as possible.
I don't think you're being silly at all in contemplating giving the party a miss. I think the sensible advice, given all you've just been through, would be not to go. I confess that, in your shoes, I would probably do whatever I felt like doing  If it was going to be a good party that I'd expect to enjoy, I'd go regardless: if one that was more duty than pleasure, I wouldn't
P.S. Yes thanks. Family visit. Been jumped on by the 6 yr old alarm clock, kicked repeatedly - though accidentally - by same 6 yr old when sharing my wheelchair (which he loves to do) and have a bruised bottom from the sofa bed from hell but, hey, the company, conversation, laughs, food, wine and whisky were goodIf at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hi suzygirl, I am glad to see that you are alive and kicking! Sorry though that you have been so ill. I don't blame you at all for not posting, I know how hard it is to post coherently at the best of times, let alone when we are ill!
I would do whatever I felt like with regards to the party. If you want to go then go, if you don't then don't! For me a party with kids I would be glad of an excuse but it might be your bag!
Glad you are ok.0
