I know that bicarb is a good 'neutraliser'. My mum used to be troubled by frequent bouts of cystitis and she would drink bicarb in water to ease the worst of the symptoms.

I mix it to a paste with a little water and scrub to get rid of those tea stains that accumulate in mugs. It's also a good 'fridge deoderiser, if you have summat whiffy in there an eggcup-ful of bicarb powder will help to 'freshen' the air. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

I have used bicarb in water to ease cystitis, a pharmacist told me it is the active ingredient in the expensive powders you can buy, but of course, much cheaper

Right, I just googled it  , and baking powder is a mixture of bicarbonate of soda and cream of tartar, both of which can be used seperately, depending on what you are making.
