Chest Infection

I'm back home and right poorly. Maybe this has been brewing for the past ten days or so but no matter, it's here and has to be dealt with. No meth or humira for me for the time being and maybe some antibiotics in due course. I'm off to bed. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

Hi DD, sorry I'm out of the loop but back home from where?
Anyway, join the club. I've got one too, nasty this time, two lots of antibiotics and the whole of easter day spent in A&E getting treatment for acute asthma resulting from it. I'm stuffed full of steroids to get my lungs working, unfortunately doesn't seem to be helping my joints!
I sincerely hope you fare better than I have. You know what to do, keep warm, plenty of rest, fluids etc. I hope you start to feel better soon.

I think I'm turning into Victor Meldrew. When I saw the title of your post, I said "I don't believe it!".
Poor you, you really don't need this on top of everything else!
Although as you say, it could have been this brewing for a while.
Rest up and take care.
Thinking of you, (((())))

Oh, poor you DD. I really hope this clears quickly. Just what you need on top of everything else. Get some rest, don't even think of getting on with things. You need to take care of yourself. Please. ((()))0

I have a doctor's appointment at 11.15 and my mother isn't answering her phone. She was very frail over the week-end - my cousin is going to go to her house to see what's what. I'm prepared for the worst. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Just make sure your G.P. doesn't give you Penicilin based antibiotics like my clown of a G.P., a lot of them don't realise you cant take Penicilin with Metho...... hope your better soon. Alanthemanc0 -
I have only just posted on your other thread, and now this. DD, you are a strong person, this has probably happened because of the way you have been feeling (being very low does drop your immune system) You take it easy, plenty of rest and tlc from hubby. Again, my thoughts are with you, hope you get the anti's and have a quick recovery. These things are certainly sent to try us, but you are strong minded and will overcome all this.Karen xx0

Oh poor DD! You really are not having break from bugs and bad health!! I hope it doesn't last to long and get meds to shift it. Sending big ((((HUGS))))0

I go back from the docs' to find a message on my answerphone. My cousin got in somehow to mum's house to find Ma on the bedroom floor. At some point last night she fell out of bed, she cannot move very well and was not particularly coherent at first. The ambulance has arrived and she will be taken to one of two hospitals, my cousin will let me know what's what.
Meanwhile I have two weeks' worth of anti-bios, no meth or humira for the time being but keep up the sulph, if no improvement in 24 - 48 hours then back to GPs (made another appointment for next Tuesday anyway at his request) and had a blood test done. I have a very croaky voice, raw throat and wheezy chest. I feel utterly drained, miserable and utterly useless. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
Hi DD
I am very sorry to see that you have a chest infection on top of everything else you are dealing with. I hope the antibiotics kick in soon xx
And I hope that your poor Mum is ok too. That must be a worry for you. You could do without visiting the hospital (full of more bugs!)
I am thinking of you and your Mum and sending my love xx

Thank you for your kind replies. My Ma has been admitted to hospital, she has a lump on her noddle and possible a chest infection (not guilty, m'lud) so hopefully she will be sensible and agree to stay in if invited so to do rather than discharging herself as she did last April after her big fall. (I can already sense that Hell is freezing over and oh! there go some pigs!. ) Going to see her is problematical to say the least: she lives about a two-hour drive away, I can't drive that far, I'm scarily unwell and 'im indoors has a hellish workload. I do, however, have a friend who may be willing to drive me there and back for a day visit but firstly I have to get a little bettter myself. Being able to talk without sounding like a Dalek would help. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

You won't do your mum any favours going while you are so unwell yourself, give yourself a few days at least, she will be well looked after if she stays put.(((()))) Mig0

Hello DD. Am so sorry to hear your latest news and do hope you will be feeling a little better soon. You really are having a rough time. Hope you will have better news of your Mum too. Sending lots of ((())) Beryl0

Sorry to hear about your mum. You make sure you get those meds inside you and start feeling a bit better before you venture out to visit your mum. As already said, you will not be doing any favours trying to go until you are feeling better.
I am sending you some hugs of comfort to be getting on with and hoping that you are at this moment resting.Karen xx0 -
Oh DD, I'm so sorry, yet more trouble, hardship and worry for you.
You must concentrate on getting yourself better, first and foremost. You won't be much use to your mum if not.
I really wish I could do something to help you.
Please take good care of yourself,
(((())))

Sorry about your mum DD hopefully they will keep her in and she wont sign herself out, you on the other hand wont be any good to anyone until those antibiotics kick in, I'm sure your cousin will look out for your mum for a few days till you get yourself sorted out, take care thinking of you and your mum ((((()))))..............Marie xxSmile a while and while you smile

I've had a rubbish night with coughing, sneezing and wheezing plus an exasperated husband sighing etc (go and sleep upstairs then, you twonk, 'cos I can't be ***** to move). He's working at home today thus I've made my own tea and breakfast (no offer was forthcoming even though he had his) so I could take my anti-bio plus the other brightly-coloured treats that 'help' life to tick along. I will later change the bed but will graciously allow him to sort out some lunch (which he will do because he will be hungry). He did a cracking dinner last night for a poorly girl who has no appetite: chilli sausages with butter beans and sweetcorn. He has many talents and good qualities but his nursing skills are negligible. He told me this morning that I will have to grit my teeth and get on with things - so radically different to the rest of my life. YE GODS. Currently I don't love him that much.
I will not be able to find out about mum until after mid-day. She was being moved to an observation unit late last night, she had a battery of tests and scans yesterday and my poor cousin was with her for over seven hours waiting to see doctors etc. In an odd kinda a way I hope they find that something is amiss so she has to stay in - no way can she go home, she is no longer able to live on her own and I'm not currently in the position to go and look after her. Despite having virtually no voice I was the one who had to answer the phone when it rang and then make phone calls to family members: there was footie on the telly which was of much more importance. Did I mention that currently I don't love him very much?
I sincerely hope that you are all doing a damn sight better than me - if anyone would like the company of a short and rather helpless man over the next couple of days I have one going spare. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
