Hi Everyone. If anyone has a few spare minutes around 3.15 p.m ish on Thursday, I should love your company? I have an appointment with the Pain Clinic Consultant and hoping he will be able to suggest something to ease the extreme pain.

Hope you are all having as good a day as possible. At least the weather has cooled down - lovely!

Beryl

HELLO Glad to hear you've got an appointment, I'll be thinking of you. I've been to the pain clinic here in Norwich and they were very nice people and gave me some useful treatment and suggestions.

Hello Beryl I will be in your pocket..all pain clinics are different depending on where you live, mine is a bit basic...so I hope yours can offer you lots of different treatments and they should review your meds.
Good Luck and you have reminded me mine is in a couple of weeks...xx
    Love

You can count me in too - I have never been offered an appointment with a pain clinic, in fact I'm not sure we have one at my hospital. I hope they can help. DD

    Hi Beryl,

Yes, happy to provide pocket duties this Thursday. If the consultant doesn't help to ease your pain, I'll leap out and give him some pain! Only joking, of course. Lovely and rainy here today; I hope you've had a comfortable weekend. :)

    Best wishes,

Hi Everyone. Thank you so much for your duties today which are much appreciated. You can now all 'stand down' as I am back home.

Things started off with a bit of a hiccup. First of all, they said I wasn't down to see the Consultant I was supposed to be seeing, then it turned out they hadn't got a copy of the letter from my GP!!! Good start!! The receptionist phoned my surgery and got them to fax a copy through.

I eventually did see the consultant and he has suggested a couple of stronger meds for me with suggestions of how we can try and avoid the awful side effects I get. He has said he is happy to give me injections in my knee and shoulder (I am still undecided as to whether to have them in my back). He has told me that there is no guarantee whatsoever that they will work or, if they do, for how long. But for now he wants to see if his suggested meds will help and injections would not be necessary. Have got a follow-up appointment in December.

Once again, thanks to you all. It really does help to have some extra support.

    Take care all of you.

    Beryl

Well, at least you were seen and by the right person - that is a good thing, yes? I think injections are always a bit 'iffy', sometimes they work and sometimes they don't (one just doesn't know which will be the case) so I hope the new meds prove to be enough to help. Good luck with them and I hope they don't cause you too many troubles. DD

I hope the new meds work for you too, Beryl. I found that if I wrote off a week or so I could usually get used to the meds and the side effects would be less bad - but I understand that it isn't always an option for everyone to do that. I hope the side effects pass you by this time and that you get some relief. x

I'm glad you got seen in the end, Beryl, and let's hope the new meds help.
