It's not too bad, it kinda slips to the side much the same as my hips & knees do!! Lots of clicking in the jaw too ... No nerve pain from it tho, maybe my luck is turning? :D:lol:

I had an xray around 2 years ago & thats where the 'widespread' OA came from I believe. My concern is the bone that I saw being worn thin by the swelling from tendons etc in 07 ... I have a feeling this pain, the extra stuff that started yesterday, is around the same area :? Ok, I'm concerned about both if I'm honest but that slightly more!!

    Thank you.xxx

Maybe it's something in the name? I was diagnosed with arthritis in my jaw at the age of 20-clunks alarmingly when I eat things like crusty bread- but I do so like crusty bread!!!!!!!! I have to 30+ years on it doesn't bother me often apart from when I go to the dentist.

Hope your respiratory consultant gets you sorted soon. Maybe it's worth a phone call to the respiratory department asking if he can recommend what to do about your chest now? I know that the antibiotics they give me are stronger/more specific than anything I get from the gp-and always 2 weeks worth to be sure that the infection is completely cleared- but of course that means a pause in my RA meds while the infection clears.

Maybe you do want to request an x-ray, or ultrasound if that can image tendons, etc (? not sure)? Might be worth it so you know what going on.

I always thought the clunking in mine was the the "ball" part of the joint becoming square, you know like a square train wheel :lol::lol:

Sorry, I'm not being serious. Not meant to worry you, just make you smile :D

Thanks yet again Anna :) xxx

I thought it was easier to copy & paste in our states
The change in name & cause must be recent as it's the first I've heard of it!!

'What is greater trochanteric pain syndrome?

Greater trochanteric pain syndrome is a condition that causes pain over the outside of your upper thigh (or thighs). The cause is usually due to inflammation or injury to some of the tissues that lie over the bony prominence (the greater trochanter) at the top of the thigh bone (femur). Tissues that lie over the greater trochanter include muscles, tendons, fascia (strong fibrous tissue), and bursae.

Greater trochanteric pain syndrome used to be called trochanteric bursitis. This was because the pain was thought to be coming from an inflamed bursa that lies over the greater trochanter. A bursa is a small sac filled with fluid which helps to allow smooth movement between two uneven surfaces. There are various bursae in the body and they can become inflamed due to various reasons.

However, research suggests that most cases of greater trochanteric pain syndrome are due to minor tears or damage to the nearby muscles, tendons or fascia and an inflamed bursa is an uncommon cause. So, rather than the term trochanteric bursitis the more general term greater trochanteric pain syndrome is now preferred.'

These names and changes just keep getting more complex. I guess it's good if it includes pain elsewhere as a 'complex'. Maybe that's better for the patient's understanding.

Thanks for the explanation. Hope the injection helps.
