:o:( Ok I get the picture. I lose out on both Ichabod's hand plus a trip to the hostelry  That's the last time I deputise for you

Sorry about the bit of foreign. I'd forgotten it wasn't allowed. It kind of means 'Here's to the next one' in that context. I meant the next Mexican evening, not the next bloke you could cart off to the pub

    Hello sw,

As you will see from the recent posts my glamourous tootsie is back
up and running/limping, and I thank you for your offer which being
the faithful merchant that I am, I must decline.

    Hello dd,

We could go to a pub nearby called the Venue which sells
plates full of the best meat and potato pie I've tasted in a
    long time.
They also sell Wainwrights beer, nammed after the old guy who
wrote all those guides to the Lake District and which is a rather
    nifty pint.
Are you on, or do you prefer your local?

Of course I'm on - me say no to beer? Do you not know me at all? I suggest we kick off at the Venue (please give me time to hurtle up to your neck of the woods in my little car) then, after a very pleasant sesh and a doze we will tootle back to my neck of the woods and go to the Fat Cat (aka the Obese Tiger, the Corpulant Puma and the Plump ****) where they currentlyt have on tap (amongst others) some cracking Maldon's, Brewer's Gold, Wherry and Doom Bar. Bliss.

I hope you are taking things easy over the Bank Holiday, I am thinking of you very much. [[[]]] DD

In cyber land who needs a driving licence?
It's a date (or should I say ddate?).
The Venue and then the Plump ****. What are the
    pies like where you sup?

 Always the bridesmaid  I shall just have to drown my sorrows in a bottle of Old Peculier or maybe such sorrow requires a glass of Islay.

Enjoy yourselves. I know I will

Bladnoch? Ye gods, the forum becomes more civilised by the hour. Many, many moons ago me and 'im (then nearly) indoors took an autumm break in Dumfrieshire and somehow ended up doing a tour of the distillery at Bladnoch. That was my first taste of a single malt and has remained my last. It was very good but, sadly, I am not one for spirits.

My lovely and loyal Ichabod, I fear you may be better off with the Stickster because she better appreciates such delicate matters. Plus my local doesn't do food (although one's take away can be delivered and the pub provides plates and flatware as long as you wash up after). As ever, life is about compromise. DD
