    At least insects in the fridge or freezer are easier to catch as they're slowed down, unlike the ones that get supercharged on the bedside light and then hurtle around when it's switched off until they run out of glim and drop on your face. Turn the light on to swat them and they get charged up again...

    Don't know its origins Sticky other than it was used in our family as an alternative to oomph/steam/ energy. It's possibly a misuse of the Scots term for light or spark, as my paternal GPs were scottish.
