Before I had arthritis I had no idea that...
1) You could be in pain everyday and get used to it
2) that most people are really ignorant about disability
3)that small things can bring you a lot of pleasure/you can have small victories (making it up the stairs etc)How am I gonna be an optimist about this?0 -
(after watching Newcastle v Liverpool )
That footballers get paid vast sums of money to fall over when I spend the whole time trying not to do so !

That putting on shoes would require my sitting down.
That vacuuming could be done sitting down, food prep and cooking too.
That a walk of more than 500 yards would suddenly become an overwhelming challenge, and one to met only with the aid of a rollator. (Mind you, I didn't know what one of those was. )
That life would become more and more expensive as my abilities deteriorated.

JillybIf at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Before Arthritis, I had no Idea that a simple thing like washing your hair and drying it would be a agonizing, slow job with me giving up post conditioning and asking OH to carry on! He does a great job of drying my hair and styling it!! :?0

Agree- before arthritis could put on own boots- now have to sit down to put them on & always need my hubby to take them off!
Hoovering is a no no so Ive gone back to the days of my gran & bought a lightweight carpet sweeper - I can manage to push this some days and the hubby does the hoovering once a week.
My house often has dishes piled up in the sink which before arthritis would have mortified me. Now people take me as they find me & if they dont get done - I shut the door! Thank god I dont have an open plan kitchen/living room!
Whilst I said in my earlier post these threads are hilarious- its sad really - but what I mean is that most of us can still put a humerous slant on things despite our daily struggle. We all know that living with arthritis is hard and at times unbearable but sharing our experiences has certainly helped me & often made me smile!0 -
Oddly enough arthritis is not all gloom and doom, it does have its lighter side but one has to be prepared to find it. Sometimes that is much easier said than done but it is there! DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Before I had arthritis I never knew about you lot and how to find the best route for a spontaneous chuckle despite everything - i.e coming here. XIf you get lemons, make lemonade0

Actually, thinking it over, doesn't the title say it all? Before arthritis we had no idea. (Now, alas, we do )If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

I always had arthritis, but I had no idea I had it. Now - that's a tricky one...0

Before arthritis, I had no idea....that a night in front of the TV in pyjamas with my family is actually sometimes better than a crazy night out.0
