I'm so sorry to read this, May, and I apologise for not replying earlier. I've been away in Scotland. I hope that, by now, you've managed to find a social worker and got some answers and reassurances re John. As for you......we are here and will continue to be. (((())))If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Oh thank you all so much. Spoke to GP on the phone yesterday morning and at lunchtime she came to our home. She hadn't said she was coming just that she would see what she can do.
Anyway she has contacted Social Services and also if it helps she can arrange for John to go into a residential home at short notice.
This really was my real worry because he does need some-one to watch him.My family I'm afraid just bury there head in the sand. However I have spoken to my son-in-law who is trying to get through to my youngest daughter that this just isn't going to be like the last time as I won't be able to do much.
As for speaking to my old school friend she is one of those people who take over. This might sound a good thing but I still want to have some control over my life.Then there is her OH.....well I can't and never could get on with him.
I feel very annoyed about all of this as it should have been picked up before now by the "experts" but was only picked up by me getting a lump the size of an egg under my arm and now I'm told yes...my bloods jumped up but they were not concerned.
Anyway I'll be around but would appreciate a busful of pocket duties on Wednesday 14th all welcome and again thank you for your help and lovely posts. Take care and bless you all. Love May x0 -
Hi May
Count me in your pocket.....you're going to need a large coat
I'm so pleased that your GP came to see you and you are gradually getting there as far as arrangements are concerned.....That will take one thing of your mind...{John going into residential at short notice if necessary}
I'm surprised that your family are burying their heads in the sand since the gene is hereditary and one of them has it {if I remember rightly}
You take care and know my prayers are with you and John.
Love

Hileena All 3 of my daughters have the gene. What I think they think is I have had this 3 times before and fought and won. Now unless I can tolerate these drugs it will be a lot harder and and maybe there just isn't another alternative.
Even the onco agrees I know more about it than she does which doesn't seem to be too difficult.
Maybe it will sink in with the girls if I do have a bad reaction but lets hope I don't0 -
Oh May
I hope it doesn't take that to make it sink in......I knew at least one had it , thought more but couldn't remember from our pm's
Keep your chin up pet, you've been through it before and I know the re action you had before with tablets but lets just pray that they work this time.
Love

May, I'm in. I'm glad the GP has got some things sorted. And I hope the social worker will prove useful too. I'll be thinking of you very much next Wednesday. (((())))

Really glad to hear the gp came and gave you some reassurance. I'll hope in your pocket too if there's room (I am what my son describes as "cuddly" :? and wouldn't want to take up too much space.
I wonder whether fear is behind your daughter's responses.......if they don't talk about it they can ignore how it might affect them too? Not an excuse to deny you the support and understanding you need and deserve, but maybe a reason.
Take care,
Deb x0 -
I'll be there on the 14th May. Glad your GP has been helpful. Hope your son-in-law manages to get your daughter to understand. Perhaps Deb is right but you do still need support from your family.Christine0

Just wanted to add my support to that of everyone who has already posted. I'm so sorry to hear your news. Your GP does sound like she's on the ball and at least you can have support for John when you need it, fingers crossed.
Best of luck tomorrow I'll be hovering around your pocket too.
big gentle hugs RW.0 -
May I am thinking about you, and really do hope you don't get a reaction for the meds...I think that your daughters must be in shock and trying to put this at the back of there minds not a good thing to be dealing with, I hope you get all the help you need for John...you certainly deserve it..don't forget we are always here for you to talk to....((((()))) xxLove

I feel for you and John, and wonder if your girls are adopting the ostrich approach as a safety mechanism? I don't know how old they are but they must be aware of what is going on and worrying about the impact on them: that is human nature. They are also used to you being the strong one who copes but that was before, yes? It sounds, however, as though things are moving and that has to be a good thing.
