Oh you wonderful people. I have been at the hospital from 8am until 7pm and with loads of steroids a bonus for the pain...loads of anti sickness drugs and gallons of fluid I got through ok. John has had somebody here all day but he did collapse in a faint about lunchtime and doc has upped his BP tablets.
I have now also spoken to Macmillan today at the hospital and someone called Stephanie is calling on Tuesday.
I will be getting a wig!!!! but if the weather stays like this I will be wearing a scarf.
You may be right about my daughters. They think because I've won before that of course I will be fine. But before I was younger and didn't have all the other problems I have now.Eldest daughter is 42 then 38 and the baby is 30.I have a son of of 44 and a son whose 34.
I am very tired now but no doubt the steroids and the trips to the bathroom won't allow me much sleep.
I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all this marvellous support Love and take care all of you May xx0 -
Hi May
I've just got in
At least you've got through this bit.
I dread to think what tonight will be like after all the fluid
I know what I'm like without the fluid
I know its not nice having cancer but think about the wig.....do you have a lot to chose from? I know nothing about that......think of that as a positive.....I got rid of my NHS crutches and bought some pink and black ones.
I'm sorry about John but at last upping the BP tablets is bound to help
You take care pet and I do hope {regardless of what I said about the loo } that you do have a good night
Love

Phew! What a day, even for a fully fit person! Well done you on getting through it. I hope you slept better than you feared, May, and I hope John has recovered from his collapse with the increased tablets.

As for your family – I'm sure they'll rally round but they might need it spelling out to them that their all-coping, superwoman of a mother is finally struggling a bit and this time it's different. They're so used to you taking the unthinkable in your stride that they might feel you'd be discombobulated if they butted in.
I shall be thinking of you on Tuesday. I hope it goes well. (((())))If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Ok Ok....very little sleep should have tried to nod off in bathroom. If you think of the amount of fluid that went through me for 12 hours hardly surprising is it? Then more steriods today so still high as a kite but aches and pains well I'm getting a break of sorts.
I've had the windows open all day with the return of the hot flushes.Still not too bad but starting in a couple of days been told to stay away from anyone even if they just sneeze. I already knew this but I can't just hibenate I'll go crackers.
John is much better now he knows I am ok'ish. It was just as well I had to keep moving in the hospital even if I'm not much good at doing things one handed toilet wise otherwise I would have ceased up.I have strict instructions to drink plenty...kidneys. So maybe another night in the bathroom.Your continued support is much appreciated and hopefully I will be speaking to you on the phone when I'm not in the bathroom. Love May xx0 -

Oh May! The long, dark night of the soul in the bathroom is not much fun but the last thing you need is kidney problems. At least it's not winter and freezing cold. I would offer to keep you metaphorical company but I'm sneezing like a good 'un right now. I'm 99% sure it's only hay fever but …. In fact, there's a lot of it about so sneezes will be hard to avoid. I guess open air ones are less likely to do damage than 'closed in' ones but what do I know? (((())))If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

I hope you have a better night tonight May.

Not much fun spending the night in the bathroom so hope you're not in there much tonight. It would drive me crazy trying to stay away from people too. maybe you could go out early when there should be fewer people about. Glad John is feeling a bit better. Fingers crossed you get a good night's sleep tonight.Christine0

Hi May. Massive hugs. Macmillan are brilliant. They will help you but not take over. Wonderful people. Like everyone else I wished for a magic wand when I read your news. Your children seem to have blocked it out, I hope they are able to let reality in soon. Massively difficult time for you. I suspect you have always been the strong one in the family, the carer. I really wish you well. Love and hugs big time.0

Hi May
I just had to write, my name is Jul and i wanted to say how very sorry i am to read your news. My heart goes out to you. But i wanted to hopefully give you some hope. My best friends cancer came back 5 years ago, and they told her she had a year left. She has tried a lot of trials, some agreed and some didn't. Twice she has been told there is nothing left to try, then another trial comes up. I just hope and pray your treatment works for you. Am thinking of you and sending you lots of hugs

Update from May
She is having a tough time of it but, May being May, she wants to thank everyone for ongoing support.
She developed thrush in her mouth and couldn't eat. The Macmillan nurse insisted she went into hospital where she was given tablets to get rid of it but these caused ulcers. Her mouth is swollen and very sore but she's managing a little liquid diet. They wanted to keep her in overnight but she refused. She did manage to sleep – finally – for about 6 hours last night.
John is trying to help eg by getting his own tablets but, as he can't see what he's taking, it doesn't really help.
May is determined that, when she sees the onco on 4th she will ensure she gets a decent mouthwash and something to stop the thrush recurring. She also fears she might need eye drops as she might I have an eye infection.
All this and arthritis too. Isn't she amazing? If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

I was just thinking about you, May. Thanks for the update, SW.
Sending love and healing vibes. We are all standing with you. Xx0 -
May, I don't know if you will see this but I thought I should let you know that Sticky is far from well (albeit not in your league) so won't be around for a few days. She won't have forgotten about you, it's just that she is struggling herself with some vile bug.
I hope you are getting on as well as possible. ((( ))) x DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
