Our next jolly jaunt is on Friday. We are going to Stockton for the weekend. For no other reason than we've never been and once again, Lenny Henry has a hotel sale on lol.

I know that someone  I'm sorry but I can't remember who it was  were giving me some places to visit nearby.
My memory continues to decline on what seems like a daily basis..
I hate not being able to remember things. It is rather irksome. :x

I think it was applerose, Tony. I know she lives near Yarm.

Memory loss must be very scary at your age. Crosswords, sudoku, word games, anything that makes you think can help. I realised, around 50, that my memory wasn't what it used to be (Though my sons insisted it was just that I didn't listen in the first place  ) so I made a big effort to get the old grey cells functioning.

    Thanks Sticky. .
Although by the time I post this I will have forgotten what you've said
I've just been to the doctors to get an early repeat prescription, I also wanted to ask her to write a note to the pharmacy to tell them to give me the durogesic fentanyl patches as the generic ones don't stick no matter what you do.
Anyway, I totally forgot to ask her until I walked into the pharmacy    I had to rush back to the gp and I managed to catch her just in time. Mind you, the pharmacy was shut when I got back there lol. .

I really really wish that I could concentrate enough to do puzzles but I just can't. The ones I really like doing are the hidden object games but I just give up after five minutes. Last time I played I spent twenty minutes looking for a sock. Then I realised it was a clock I was looking for :o  :lol:

Hi Tony. Do you know where you want to visit and what you want to do? I'm just off to bed but can post tomorrow with some ideas, if you need places to visit. If I remember rightly, you are staying in a hotel about 2 miles from me. Will you have the car or will you be relying on public transport?

    Hi hun.
We usually like history type things. Castles etc etc.
    But are open to suggestions.
We will be in the cars and will have Blue badges for both lol.
The hotel is the Pre#iere Inn at White Water way, Thorneby.

Hope to chat with you later this morning.

I hope you enjoy your venture to pastures new, our holiday has been indefinitely postponed thanks to Mr DD's work pressures. Mind you I'm heartily relieved because I didn't fancy going in the first place. DD

Tony, probably the best of the old abbeys is Rievaulx and the history is fascinating.
    http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/daysout/properties/rievaulx-abbey/

You could probably combine it with Mount Grace Priory though the latter isn't quite as accessible.
    http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/daysout/properties/mount-grace-priory/

Why not Durham? It's a lovely city, a bit up hill and down dale but it has wheelchair accessible buses. You can park just off the A1 and use the Park and Ride. The cathedral and university precincts are beautiful.

Or just check out English Heritage for yourself. http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/

And, if you lack concentration, drive very carefully

I've phoned Cameron and he's got onto Barak Obama and I can confirm SEAL team 6 are on they're way to contain the break out, that said I'm not sure M4 assault riffles and M40 grenades will do much damage against his Kryptonite exterior, mind you the special OP's assault will make good viewing on you tube!.

Sticky has beaten me to it. There aren't any castles close by but here is a link which tells you about a few. There are some links at the top of the page to check out other things such as beaches and museums.

We are now in Stockton on Tees.
Got to the place a couple of hours ago. Parked up near the centre and them lot went for a quick mooch around. I waited in the car as my back is quite bad today
we are now at the hotel. I've come to bed for a rest. Along with some diazapam. There is a lovely looking pub next door and I think we will venture there for tea.
The place seems lovely and quiet and is near to the water.
A short walk may be had later :D

    catch you soon

Welcome to Stockton Tony. I think you are staying next to the Tees Barrage International White Water Centre. Our Olympians practice their water sports here. There is a rowing club, Dragon boat club and there are wheely boats so that disabled and wheelchair users can get to use the river. I had a meal once in that pub but it was years ago. The meals were good then.

Hope the diazapam has kicked in so you can enjoy your tea.

    Thanks hun.
I am afraid I was disappointed with my meal. I had prawns but they were overcooked.
Shall try somewhere new tomorrow lol.
I think the plan is to have a wonder around here in the morning.

Speak soon. And thanks for getting the sun to appear just for us

PS.. I'm still waiting for the diazapam to do it's thing

What a pity your meal wasn't very nice. Glad you fell well enough to get out today, although I know it's not as good as you'd like to be. Just realised, the Tees Regatta is on today on the river from 9am till 6pm so you might catch some of that.
