Well done but it sounds as though you need some WD40 to sort out those squeaks, I'm sure the lovely Bruce will have some.
He did not say you will not be storm tossed, you will not be sore distressed, you will not be work weary. He said you will not be overcome.

Good for you getting sorted with a wheelchair and maybe a scooter..I hope you can maneuver up and down the drive..now the wheelchair I use has a walker and sit in it when needs must...must say the tanned tattooed man sounds quite nice... :) good luck with the scooter..
    Love

The squeaks were the plastic tyres on the wooden floor - plus the odd squeak from me as I hurtled into walls and door frames. Hermione is now in the sitting room, she is a bulky old bird (much like her owner) and I am too tired now to wrestle her into Beatrice. :( DD

Aaah, so you need the WD40  perhaps Bruce would apply it to all of your squeaky bits for you. He sounds to be just what I need, do you think he'd be interested in a slightly older, somewhat desperate erm...lady?

Oh Numpty, the lovely Bruce is already spoken for by the lucky Juliet. :x Tres irksome, no? She is the second Mrs Bruce (and he is the second Mr Juliet) so between them they have five nearly-adult-off-spring so he has sold his power boat - yup - and has bought a four berth cruiser of some ilk. It's a boaty world round here.

tjt? Wrestling? Well, hugging and the odd kiss is as far as I've managed: I've lost me touch. :( DD

I understand it's the right thing for me (and I am also aware that others on here have ben chair-bound for some time) but . . . . it's not easy. DD

    ....
and isn't that perhaps the nub of it DD? The practicalities of deciding what is suited to your needs are relatively straightforward and are susceptible to lists such as how much, how heavy, wheelchair/scooter, and the head can deal with that for the most part.
The other side of it is more difficult - the reasons why you find yourself having to make these decisions in the first place - and however gungho you are about your condition(and you are a First Class honours graduate in that subject) I cannot believe you are able to keep out the emotional response entirely. Elements of resentment, exasperation, exhaustion at having to keep adapting, and recognition of having reached another stage that doesn't have an 'undo' or 'back' button, another bit of grieving at a time when you've more than your fill of that already.
On a related but different subject, if your drive was to be changed from gravel to tarmac(which I know you don't want) I think you'd need to run it past Planning because of changing from permeable to solid surface, which will need adequate soakaway arrangements - part of the attempt to reduce flash flood risk.
