How many hours to work
I've had a bad knee flare up. I'm 59 and thinking of cutting my hours down to 7 a day. Does anybody know if this would be to much. Many thanks

Hi @Pollyharley
When considering how you manage your condition and work, planning how many hours and/or days you feel able to work is part of the process in self management . Understanding your rights within the workplace when you live with a long term condition or disability is essential.
Consider how often you experience a flare, how long does it last for, do you need time off work, is your work heavy or tiring? You can ask for flexible working or to reduce your hours, check out the ACAS site on making an application to adjust your hours. Asking for flexible working: Making a flexible working request - Acas
It may also help to speak with you health professional.
Your income may be impacted by reducing your hours, it will help if you consider what you can afford and possibly get some welfare benefits advice from your local welfare advice service. Check what benefits to claim if you’re sick or disabled - Citizens Advice
In addition would you benefit from additional support through Access to work such as ergonomic equipment, travel support to and from work? Get support in work if you have a disability or health condition (Access to Work) - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) You can ask for an assessment if you are unsure what would help.
I hope this information will help you make an informed decision, please get in touch if you wish to discuss any of the items I have raised, my contact details are within this link, Working Well with Arthritis (versusarthritis.org)
