Helping my mum with her knee
Hello, my new friends. Thank you for taking the time to look at my first-ever post on this forum. My elderly mum (89) who is very sprightly for her age has developed arthritis in her knee. Sometimes it keeps her awake at night and limits her movement during the day. She is a get-up and do kind of girl, so it really upsets her if she can't do that. I would like to purchase her a knee brace to help. My question is which one? There seem to be an endless list of various knee braces. Has anyone got any advice, please? I have been looking at all sorts, ranging from about £30 to well over £200. Cost is not really the issue, but I want to make sure I get a good one.

Hello @ckes101
Lovely to meet you and welcome you to the Online Community. It's always extra nice when it is a family member trying to help their relative like this.
Your Mum sounds a dynamic sort of person so must be feeling quite held back by this knee Arthritis.
There are a few things you can do to help. The first being to read this article if you don't know it's contents already:
You'll see reading it that there are things which can help possible a cushion between your Mum's knees at night in bed for instance. Has she seen a physiotherapist at all? If not that is a very good place to discuss knee braces which would be just right for your Mum.
This is a fairly recent thread about knee supports don't be put off by the title it includes knee braces:
If you/she fancy it too do take a look at out 'Let's move' category we are about to start some gentle stretching exercises:
One lady who uses the forum did the last sessions with her Mum and they both got a lot out of it.
Best wishes
Ellen.
