Good morning all

just joined this group and wanted to say hi,

I’ve known I’ve had arthritis for a while but just recently it’s got worse, so decided to do something about it. I’ve been having trouble with my hip and had physio and hydrotherapy on it but not helped much so am seeing a hip specialist soon also my knees have been painful recently so had a X-ray and yep you guessed it mild osteoarthritis.

I’ve always enjoyed walking only in recent years with one thing and another it’s very painful hopefully I can get some pain relief when I see the doctor and get back to walking again.

any suggestions?

Hi @Indy502 and welcome to the online community,

So, you have osteoarthritis which has recently got worse, and you would like some suggestions about how you can get some relief and also continue to enjoy your walking.

It sounds like you you are determined to do something to improve your condition, and that's a good start. All our members experience living with arthritis, and I'm sure you'll find some helpful tips and advice on the forum. There has been a recent discussion about walking the West Highland Way that might inspire you!:

Talking to your GP about pain medication is also a sensible move. Combined with gentle exercise and other self help measures, you should be able to get some relief from your pain. The Versus Arthritis website has a page on exercise for all the joints that you might find helpful:
