Helpful books
Hi all. I bought this book 'treat your own knees'. I found it quite helpful. It was written by a physiotherapist who specialises in knees. It is full of advise and exercises for the knees. It has exercise programmes and diagrams to follow and exercises charts. Has anyone here read any good books to help with arthritis, and if so what ones?

Two @DODGYKNEES
One was on the then Arthritis Care's 'managing your long term condition' course. It had some great guided meditations and techniques in it.
The other was a trigger point book - you know to understand and help yourself with those nasty little excruciating knots of muscle tension you get often in your back....

This is in no way intended to trivialise this thread but, really, when I was at my worst with two small sons and no joints replaced, I bought an old-fashioned scrapbook and stuck in it cuttings and cartoons from newspapers and magazines - some long: some one-liners - that made me laugh or, at least, smile. At the front I stuck one that said 'Just because the weather is gloomy doesn't mean to say you have to be gloomy too', or words to that effect.
On the truly awful days I got out my book and read it, or some of it as it became two very packed books, and I laughed again. I particularly cherished the French Oral Examiner's article ("Quelle heur est-il?" you ask. "Non" he replies, conversationally) , the review of Sex Manuals ('It is a subtle cross between the Karma Sutra and Blue Peter'), the small ad 'Divorced gent,, 43, own home, seeks lady friend, 30-40, for genuine friendship. Off-licence owner preferred but not essential' or any Nancy Banks-Smith of The Guardian review of the latest Dallas or Dynasty programme ('John Roars (as she called John Ross), a child of exceptionally indeterminate parentage').
It's very hard to concentrate on pain while laughing.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Thanks for the tip on the book (very relevant for me ) might use it with my physiotherapist.......really like the list of uplifting humour tips too ....I have quickly realised that this whole OA challenge is relative (I am in the fortunate camp where I can still be pretty active atm) ....
