Chronic pain help
Hello, I've joined because I'm looking for help for my mother, who suffers from bad knee pain. She has had bouts of psuedo gout and also suffers from OA. I am investigating ways to manage pain for her. She has been offered psysiotherapy and pain relief medication, but with limited effectiveness. I am interested to know if injections might be suitable (for someone elderly with a number of comorbidities). Thank you.

Hello @Blackshuck and welcome to the online community,
How lovely to see you supporting your Mum and looking for help with her knee pain. I hope other members will drop in with their suggestions - knee pain is a common challenge on this forum.
Here's a recent post by one of our members asking the same question - perhaps you could add to her conversation and share some tips?
You also might find some useful suggestions in the Versus Arthritis help page that discusses knee pain:

@Blackshuck welcome to the forum from me too
I think I replied to @rach98x the other day.
A lot of us on here had tried injections and many absolutely swear by them. At any age😊
Do let us know how she gets on

Re. Injections
hi to blackshuck and all members,
I am waiting for a right knee replacement,(among other things.) I have recently had a steroid injection, done at my GP surgery. Effect has been miraculous for me, no pain at all in that site!
I know it will return, however, wonderful to have time off as it were from suffering in this site. I have cervical stenosis, wondered if anyone had any tips for dealing with that?

Hi @Irisheyes2 and welcome to the community. We are a friendly and supportive group and I hope that you will find that as well.
I understand that you have arthritis in your knee as well as cervical stenosis. Have you had a look at the links above? You might also find the following of interest
I'm glad that the steroid injection in your knee has given you some relief from the pain. Let's hope it lasts as long as possible.
Please do keep posting and let us know how you are getting on and I am sure others will connect with you to share their thoughts and experiences as well.
With very best wishes
