MTX first dose today
Hello, I have recently been diagnosed with inflammatory arthritis and given methotrexate to start today. Having read the leaflet it says if taking omeprazole to tell your doctor. The rheumatologist is aware I take omeprazole but didn’t mention it to me. Is anyone else taking both MTX with omeprazole? Am I safe to take both? Thank you

Hello @Lazy_days welcome to the Online Community.
I see from your post that you are about to take your first dose of Methotrexate (MTX) today for your Inflammatory Arthritis, but are worried about the fact you are already taking omeprazole.
There was a recent thread on the subject:
If in doubt though I really suggest you contact your medical team - rheumatology helpline, GP or even a pharmacist for advice today.
Do let us know how you get on.
Best wishes
Ellen.

I've taken meth with either omep or its cousin lansoprazole for years. I think it's best if you can put about two hours between them. I could be wrong but I think omep can weaken the effect of meth, hence the warning. I hope it all works well for you.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Thank you.
I rang pharmacist he said to take it today and speak to rheumatologist. I left 3 hours between taking omeprazole and MTX. I’ve left a message for rheumatology to get back to me.
