Methotrexate
Hi, I'm having a phone call appointment with the Rheumatologist this morning about putting me on methotrexate. Is there any questions i should be asking her. I've read some bad reports about this treatment.
Cheers Iain

Hi Iain.
my advice is to try not to worry. I have taken mex since May, and I’ve been ok on it. I do take it after my evening meal, and have some bio yogurt after that. Just ask if you are in a lot of pain right now, if they can prescribe a low dose steroid that you can take along side them until they kick in, which can take a few months. My consultant did this, and it has made the transition more bearable. The leaflets they give you may scare you, I make a point of not reading them too extensively these days lol.good luck.

Hi @Iain2
I hope you've also read some good reports about MTX? It helps a lot of us here very very much.
I know in higher doses it is a chemo drug which is probably partly why the bad rap. My own daughter had it when she had cancer it did the job she's still here.
For us lot though the dose is way lower and by no means do all of us have side effects. We have plenty of tips if you do though
Good luck
Toni x
