‘Leg levellers’ for shoes - help!
Hi all. I was diagnosed with OA in my left hip a month ago and am being referred for pain meds and to a specialist. My triage Physiotherapist has said my hips are now misaligned meaning my legs are presenting as different lengths, making it more difficult to walk. She has suggested a walking stick plus insoles or brace type thing for my right foot to level my legs and help with walking. If my description makes any sense - where would I get such things from? Shoe shop? Boots? (Excuse the pun!). I have no idea so any suggestions welcome. Thanks very much.

Hello @Shazla0866 welcome to the online community
You have been diagnosed with misaligned hips and your physiotherapist has suggested some shoe adaptations and a walking stick to aid your mobility.Your GP practice should be able to refer you to a podiatrist who will be able to assist you with this. If this is not successful I attach a link to VA information on Podiatry which I hope you will find helpful.

This situation may be a temporary one, if in the future you consider hip replacement surgery this can help realign your present condition. Many of us follow the new stretching videos which help with our joint and muscle flexibility and mobility, this might be worth considering because exercise is proven to help with pain and emotional well being.
Do let us know how you get on, we look forward to hearing from you soon.
Best wishes

I got mine in physical therapy where they first measured my legs. I have to admit that I don't use it much. Just don't like the way it feels.

I found it easier for a cobbler to put a piece on the heel/of my shoes, on some shoes its not possible .....but well worth it...xx
