Osteo - living in spain

Good afternoon,

My name is James and I am a retired bloke, from the SW of England but now living in a very rural part of Andalucia in southern Spain. For years I lived with a nagging uncomfortable feeling in my upper spine. Still, it was only after a consultation with a Spanish specialist that I was diagnosed with artrosis (Osteo Arthritis) about three years ago. Strangely, getting the diagnosis was a relief as it confirmed there was a real problem and also told me that it wasn't life-shortening serious! However, the condition has worsened and now I cannot do my favourite pastime (landscape photography) as load carrying is impossible.

So, I look forward to learning from people here how to better cope with this condition.

    Hello James

I wonder if it might be worth considering something like a rolling camera trolley for your equipment. Or perhaps using a fishing tackle trolley as a base and customising for your needs, it might be an avenue back into your landscape photography hobby.

    All the best

    Joanne

    Hi James,

I imagine Andalucia is a perfect place for photography.

I've been searching through old posts as I recall two keen-but-arthritic photographers having a good discussion and swapping tips but I can't find the thread. It was probably last year sometime. I wonder if a kind Mod could do better than me.

    Good luck, anyway.

If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

    Hi @JamesWestlake,

I wonder if this is the thread that @stickywicket is thinking about? There are several mentions of photography, and it’s an interesting discussion on adapting old hobbies and trying out new ones:

    Best wishes,
