Not my knee but my hips!

Hi @Janlyn thank you for your reply. Yes I know the exercise that you mean, where you stand up straight and lift your leg out to the side and try not to lift the hip. I have done that exercise, but can still only lift leg off the floor a couple of inches. Also yesterday after completing the exercises I found that I was getting a short sharp stab of pain on and off in my left groin area ( the left hip, not the one being operated on ) which halted me from walking. It calmed down a bit during the evening. Today I have only done the exercises once and again got the sharp pain, so perhaps I will stop that one for a couple of days. I certainly don't want to go into hospital with more pain!
I can straighten my leg, so hopefully after the op. it may be a little easier.
Thursday I go for another blood test then it is just waiting. I am gradually sorting things out indoors a little each day. Defrosted the freezer today another job done. Also have been moving things in food cupboards so they are easier to access ( made sure my Tassimmo coffee's are within reach I will be needing them! )
Take care.🙂

@Fran54 I think it helps even if you can only manage to lift your leg a couple of inches - eventually you should be able to do more but I think it is so important to stop if you have pain. It's not long now for you to wait. I remember not managing too much exercise when I was close to my surgery date and I felt there was a limit to how much good I could do and I was so scared of causing any damage. And as you say it may be easier after your op.
A good idea to sort things out a little each day - that's how I did it and I knew the important things were in reach for me - including my coffee!
Take care - not long now 😊

just a quick update. Had op last Tuesday and home Thursday evening. Doing exercises as requested and going up and downstairs ok. I call my new hip "Hippie" not original I know!! But he is my new friend and encourages me to do things a little at a time😏
Have slight swelling in my knee down/including foot but not too bad. Have been putting my wheatbag in the freezer then laying down and placing it over my knee.
Just taking each day at a time . I hope that you are keeping well. Take care😊
