Is anyone living in Northumberland/ Newcastle upon Tyne that wants to meet???

hi

This is a second attempt at seeing if anyone has AS that could meet up or be an online friend.

Hi everyone

I am Jan, I have Anykylosing spondylitis,I got diagnosed last year, I am 64.

my husband is my carer.

i live in Northumberland and love talking photos when I can get out.

i did have other hobbies but not able to do them.

i am friendly, outgoing, sense of humour, well you have to with this condition.

i lost friends when i got diagnosed with this condition as people who don’t have it are not understanding but if you fancy a chat, coffee, and enjoy photography, short walks, nature.

please get in touch.

thank you

    Hi @Natash

Has anyone suggested you try one of the groups local to you?

If you pop your postcode in the search box it will show you anything going on near you.

    Best of luck

    Ellen.

I probably replied to your last message anyway knowing me.

Sadly I'm in the Midlands so far too far away I have however over the years met a few people from the forum and just wanted to say it can work, but we made sure we passed on any private details over personal message.

Best of Luck finding a walking/coffee person

    Hi @Natash ,

Maybe you could start chatting online - Val’s Cafe is a friendly place to start - and as you get to know people you might find more things in common with someone and then you both might like to meet up. It can be a bit daunting meeting up with people you don’t really know yet.

As well as the local groups page that @Ellen suggested above, you also could look at the National Axial Spondyloarthritis Society website. ( link below) It’s got a local groups page and it also holds a monthly online meet-up where you can get to know others.

Best wishes, and do have a look round the forum and join in any conversations where you feel comfortable.
